My favorite: "Their strategy should be to get a lead on the other team."

May as well just say: "They should score more points than the opponent." Duurrrrrrr.....

My second favorite: "It's really really hard to beat a team X times." -- said after the team in question has already been beaten X-minus-one times.

Had to bump this one up after watching the NO-49ers.

I heard one cliche earlier and forgot to write it down (this CRS disease is F-ing DEBILITATING!), but the one I CAN recall is something to the tune of, "The refs are letting them play!"

...for those of you who are unfamiliar with media football-speak, that means the officials aren't calling holding, pass interfernece, and a boatload of other stuff! ;)

"Now that guy is a football player." Oh is that why he's wearing that uniform...?

Calling Joe Flacco a game manager. Ugh. If Joe Flacco is a game manager than so was Tom Brady until his second Superbowl. Flacco has had 23 games with 100 plus quarterback rating out of 66. Tom Brady also had 23 games with 100 plus quarterback ratings in his first four seasons starting. Also, Tom Brady was cheating, and had a better defense than Flacco has had (largely in part to cheating).

Elite is used way too much. I thought this was the ultimate team game. If a QB wins a SB he is considered Elite now. I also can't stand bandwagoners for any sport. You root for your team through good and bad. Before the Red Sox won their 1'st WS in about 100 years you never saw any Red Sox fans. Now their everywhere. Same with Yankees and Steeler fans. Its easy to root for a winning team. How about rooting for your own team. I worked in Redskins territory for years when we had no team. I didn't ever root for the Skins. Then when we got the Ravens I wore my Purple even though we weren't that good. Now I can be proud of "My" team. Go Ravens!!!

    Adding gate to every scandal

Spygate was one but there are others

It's not witty or original, it's lazy journalists trying to hype something up

I just know if Goodell was caught in some financial irregularity the headlines would scream corruptiongate or scandalgate, something like that

No doubt. The only reason the Richard Nixon scandal was called Watergate (where all of this nonsense started) was because it took place at the Watergate Hotel. Why not give each scandal its own unique name? Thank God there is no Penn State Gate.

When they refer to a player as "A" Joe Flacco or "A" Ray Rice. Why can't you just say their names???

The word "classy" is so overused in football.
