Casino boss bets $20M on Newt
The man who owns Vegas, Casino magnate and
billionaire Sheldon Adelson is believed to be donating $20M to Newt's
campaign according to multiple sources from
politico, the site that brought down Herman Cain.
A spokesman denies it but there's a lot of reasons
to believe it could happen within a week.
Newt has cultivated a group of several wealthy businessmen that have helped him stay in politics.
Lately he has taken a beating from Romney ads in
Iowa and needs money to combat it. The money could be coming soon.
Adelson has donated to both parties in the past including Dirty Harry Reid from Nevada but I posted a link months ago he is unhappy with OBY and the DEMs and feels our rights are being taken away from us.
Stay tuned.
It ain't over til it's over.
We used to have a cool poster in here from Vegas who is a black jack
dealer out there but I haven't seen him in a while. When I discussed
how the Mafia built Vegas with Teamster money he said it no longer
runs Vegas but many wished it did.
He said the casino unions out there got Reid narrowly elected complete
with voting machines that only had his name as the only candidate
on it.
Sheldon Adelson is the man who runs Vegas now.

Re: Casino boss bets $20M on Newt
$20M is a lot of money
Are there any rules over this amount from one individual?
Oh I'm not looking for a full breakdown of rules, just I would have thought there is a max limit from one person

Re: Casino boss bets $20M on Newt
I'd dunno, maybe that's why a spokesman said it's not true and this
is coming from politico but they were right about Cain.
Good question, I'll look it up but $20M is enough to get anyone
elected.
Here you go, man. Skip the jargon and scroll down to chart.
Hope this helps.
Hot Air reports it too. The $$ is going to an outside group that
supports Newt so there's ways of getting around it. From the politico
link above Adelson contributed $7.7M in the past thru a group.

Perhaps the leading player in the pro-Gingrich super PAC space, Winning Our Future, was unveiled this week and is being headed by Becky Burkett, who was the lead fundraiser for Gingrich’s main political vehicle over the past few years, the fundraising juggernaut American Solutions for Winning the Future.
That group raised $54 million — including $7.7 million from Adelson — between its late 2006 creation and its collapse this year after Gingrich left it to run for president, according to Internal Revenue Service filings.
On Tuesday, Burkett declined to detail her relationship with Adelson, telling POLITICO, “I certainly know him through American Solutions,” but added, “I have not spoken to him” about Winning Our Future.

Throwing his money away. Romney is the only GOP candidate with a shot this cycle.

Re: Casino boss bets $20M on Newt
The limits on the chart are low
Well when I say low it's still a lot of money to me lol
He must have split up the money among foundations or had a clever way around it somehow
Just the number struck me and even from watching David Simon's The Wire there was a limit of election contributions. And campaign finance reform comes up in every election.
Way offtopic for this forum.....the actor who played Mayor Carcetti in The Wire is Irish :)

Re: Casino boss bets $20M on Newt
Yea, that's exactly what he did. The link listed a foundation. I just
edited my post to include the name from the link.
You might have seen my hand in the Wire-lol. I was an extra making a call. All you see is my hand. I waited all night in the
freezing cold and got $50 plus a T-Shirt that said Cast, The Wire.
It looks really cool in the gym. I just got Xfinity and you can see each
episode for $1.
I was also in THE REPLACEMENTS as an extra and I was in a LOTTO
Ravens commercial sitting in the stands.
Did a little bit of acting in my time-lol.Last edited by AirFlacco; 01-10-2012 at 01:21 AM.

Re: Casino boss bets $20M on Newt
Looks like that $20M will be more like $5M but Newt is getting some
heavy PAC money in. It's probably too little too late.
Mitt is ahead but he's no shoe-in the SC primary. He could struggle in the south where the conservatives and southern baptists are. If so it will set him back big time. A guy on TV said 2/3 of the Republican Party didn't even vote in Iowa and NH. They're the conservatives.
It looks like everyone in the country hates wall street and Romney is
the GOPs answer to O BUMMER.
Even Galen said he can live with Romney.
These cats want a free ride from the gov't from birth to death.
