Re: Let's talk about Houston
I know I don't see blowout. I see a close game with 2 tough defenses and some great running backs. I do think the Ravens will win at the end because they just don't lose home games. I expect a game similar to the first meeting. Going into the 4th it's going to be anyones game.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
Their defense is good, but in the first matchup, Flacco moved the ball well and put up over 300 yards. I'm predicting blowout because I'm anticipating Yates is going to turn it over a couple of times, which will lead to short fields.
With Yates at QB, and Johnson being slowed, and Daniels likely out, this is going to be about as one-dimensional a team we have faced all year. The Ravens are usually good at stopping those types of teams, so I don't see them getting more than 10 points.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
The reason why I think it will be close is the Texans D vs. the Ravens passing offense. Flacco is going to have his usual mediocre playoff game against that pass rush. I do think he's going to be careful with the ball and not throw any picks but he's going to get hit and throw for under 200 yards and complete less than 60% of his passes for the 7th time in the 8 playoff games he's played in.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
Being honest, I would be bummed if Daniels can't play, but I personally think that James Casey is just as big of a recieving threat as Daniels if given the chance. At the first of the season Casey was a big matchup problem for opposing teams and then he tore his pec and that was that. He came back against the Titans, when we had all of our backups in, and put up right at 100 yards recieving. He is one athletic dude. If he got some playing time this week I think he would surprise some people.
That given, I think if we get behind early it's going to be a long day.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
I actually picked up Casey for my fantasy team after watching the game he had against the Saints. I loved how he would line up all over the place. He reminded me of a Joe Gibbs type H-back. The Ravens will probably put his old buddy Bernard Pollard on him to try and knock him into next week if he's in the pattern. The other option would be to use the Ravens big corners, Cary Williams or Jimmy Smith. Casey is so long that he's tough to stop.

How much will the presence of Ben Grubbs, effect this game?

Re: Let's talk about Houston
Regardless of his health, I could see Andre Johnson burning us deep more than once this Sunday and I think that will be the real key to this game. We know the Ravens defense is going to sell out to stop Foster and the ground game. We also know #20 will be shading towards AJ's side all game long, and a 3rd string rookie QB might be green enough to throw it deep in that direction anyway. The question for me is does Ed still have enough to keep these deep balls, however well or poorly thrown, from being completed for big gains? I am hoping for the best, but I believe it is a fair and open question at this stage in #20's career. Ed is my favorite Raven and I am looking forward to him sticking it to the naysayers.
Long days and pleasant nights.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
I'm hoping AJ has his jitters out this week. His legs looked fine, for some reason his hands were rusty, but he did catch the one that counted. TJ actually hit Andre deep in the endzone early on in the game and he dropped it. I think TJ throws a much better deep ball that Matt Shaub does. We just have to keep TJ from making a bad quick decision to force one in. That's where he gets in trouble.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
I have thought about this a little bit. I am just having trouble seeing this as a closer game than the first meeting.
In that game, the Ravens lost the turnover battle, played poorly in the red zone, and still won by two TDs, putting up 29 points.
I just don't see enough of a difference, in the two teams, that would now lead me to think this game will be any closer. Here is what the Texans have going for them this time, that they did not last time:
1.) Andre Johnson will play. You are definitely going to have to pay attention to Andre Johnson and his presence could also draw a safety.
2.) Their defense has more experience in Wade Phillips' defense. Brooks Reed has more games worth of experience, as a starter.
Here is what the Ravens have going for them, that they did not the first time:
1.) Matt Schaub will not be playing this time. T.J. Yates will be starting at QB
2.) Ben Grubbs is playing this time. Grubbs is a former Pro Bowler and this offensive line has played much better, when running the ball and when protecting the quarterback, since he has returned.
Matt Schaub had to make some major third down throws, to keep the game close, as long as it was. I just do not see Yates doing that against this defense, in this stadium. They've already handled Foster well and know how he is going to get his touches.
Last time, the Ravens lost the turnover battle 0-2, but still put up 29 points and won by two TDs. I just don't see enough of a difference this time around.
I think this game will be a blowout."Please take with you this final sword, The Excellector. I am praying that your journey will be guided by the light", Leon Shore

Re: Let's talk about Houston
The key is to out-physical the Texans O line, keep them in long down and distance. They are typically are more fit than most dlines, so eventually they tend to wear down teams in 4th quarter.
Nah, he doesn't have a noodle arm. Actually the bigger concern is that his throws have more pop than Schaub/Leinart. The players have been bumping up the velocity of the Jugs machine to get used to how he throws. His accuracy comes and goes. Given his situation, he has been impressive. FWIW, his YPC is higher than Flacco's.
I would expect for the Texans to work the outsides a bit. Texans offense is all about keeping defenses off balance, getting them tired, worried about cut blocks. Usually against physical fronts, they will do plays early in the game that get defenses moving laterally to make them sweat gravy. Foster is a great guy, very smart, and a very complete running back.
This is the first year that it has been enjoyable to watch the defense. The Texans have been using high picks on defense for years, and now they finally have an experienced defensive coordinator who knows what he is doing, can call a defense, and picked free agents and draft picks that suit what they do.
I think that was a knock rust off game. AJ does two things for us: 1. Big play potential (he won the ATL game for us before his injury); 2. Usually defenses play exotic defensive stuff on him, and this opens things up for receivers, TEs, RBs. The Texans are very good at designing plays to exploit defensive stuff they see earlier in the game. Makes guys WIDE open. Some of the early play calls that don't work end up helping out down the road after the Texans analyze how the defense is playing things. If he is ever played single coverage, or if there is a busted coverage, that is usually an easy Andre Johnson TD. I feel honored to have watched every play of his career.

Re: Let's talk about Houston
Every game does not turn out the same. If you could crunch numbers and pick a game you would be a millionaire in Vegas. Look at LSU/Alabama. You just don't know until you play the gaame. There are too many intangibles.
I also thought of this this morning. The Texans have no pressure. Everybody expects us to lose. Texan fans will still think, with the injuries we have had this season, that this was a great season if we lose to the #2 seed on their field with our #3 QB. On the other hand, y'all will see the Ravens as a huge disappointment if y'all lose to us, at home, in your first playoff game after working all year to securing a first round bye, against a 3rd string QB. We should be loose coming into this game. We'll all just have to wait until Sunday. I think it could go either way.
