He may want a different job and new challenges. Like being Athletic Director of Alabama, for instance.

DeCosta staying does raise a reasonable concern that he's doing so because Ozzie will be passing the job to him in the not-to-distant future.

If Ozzie wants to go, he's earned it. He's earned the right to step down from this job with applause and respect from the organization and fans. We should also trust that he'd leave us in good hands.

I'm hoping he's not ready to go and DeCosta just loves the air in Baltimore that much...

I'm willing to bet that DeCosta makes more than a good number of GMs in the league.

Have to give props to Biscuit for building an organization with solid personnel. I really appreciate having a great owner like him.

I think your right. Bet he got a nice raise just to stay in Baltimore.

Ozzie has said he's not leaving anytime soon and that's great for us
caus he's the best there is.

DeCosta knows most of Ozzie's assistants don't do well outside of the
organization. He's must of turned down about a dozen GM jobs last
few years. He's getting paid what most GMs get now so why leave,
especially with his young family here.

Also, many of the GM jobs don't give full authority to the GM. The
coach gets final say on the draft and signings like Bellicheat in NE
and Pete Carroll in Seattle. DeCosta turned that job down too.

Speaking of Angelos, Ozzie knows baseball too.

Maybe Petey should hire Oz then DeCosta would get his break here.

Oz wouldn't do any worse than the clowns that
    have run the Warehouse.

Of course anything can happen since we don't know Ozzie's mindset. Speculating though, perhaps he's looking for a 2nd Super Bowl ring before moving on (?) ... Bc

He has a family set up here and has a hell of a job being groomed to take over as GM for a top notch organization. Leave that to go to the Rams or Raiders or some other team in a mess? No shot.

Well, to me it all depends on how quickly he can take over for the Ravens. If it is within 3-5 years (through the peak of Rice and Flacco's career), I can see him sticking around. But if Newsome is planning on staying with the Ravens indefinitely, I find it hard (from a professional stand-point) to understand why DeCosta would want to remain second-string.

Yes, the Rams, Raiders, Bears, Colts etc...are in a mess, at this time, but if they were not, they would not have job openings.

DeCosta has an opportunity to be a GM in the NFL, those chances do not occur every day. Newsome didn't exactly inherit the best situation when he became GM of the Ravens, either.

Again, it is all idle, baseless speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a timetable for when DeCosta takes over for Newsome as part of his new deal.

    Comical... and, yet, sadly true!

Brilliant move in retaining DeCosta.... Ravens are a class act organization --- top to bottom!
