Thumbs up Re: Top 10 Ravens Moments of 2011

Flacco to Smith at 0:08 4th Q at Pitt is clearly #1.

    Others include:

    • Flacco to Smith for three rookie TDs against St. Louis
    • Ray Rice long gain first play of the season to set up first TD
    • 7 takeaways in home opener
    • Johnson's fumble recovery for a TD vs. Jets
    • 2 point conversion in home opener and whiny Stillers fan reactions :grbac:
    • defense 4th Q shut down Texans - three 3+outs and forced fumble
    • 21 point comeback win vs. Cardinals -- biggest in team history
    • overturning of Jermaine Gresham's TD catch late 4th Q vs. Bengals
    • Suggs' historic three sacks and three forced fumbles over the team owned by the son of the late Robert Irsay

There's an counter-argument that that's a bottom ten low-light. :grbac: Ravens are among NFL "leaders" in dropped passes after dumping two relatively sure-handed vet receivers.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Here's a different perspective... The question is "the most impactful Ravens moments in 2011", not necessary positive or negative. I would add the Monday Night game in Jacksonville as an impact moment. Specifically, not getting a 1st down until late in the 3rd quarter. Did that game uncover some glaring weaknesses or what.

Plus the David Reed fumbles and personal foul in Seattle leading to Joe's 50+ throws.

    1) signing McKinnie, as well as Leach and Gurode. cannot overemphasize the help given to the O, esp the running game.

2-8) the turnovers in the Pigsburgh game.

    9) Flacco to Smith, td, Ravens beat Steelers at Hines.
    10) Torrey Smith's three td catches in St. Louis. wows.

One of the top Ravens Moments of the 2011 Season may have actually occurred many decades ago...

Mr. and Mrs. Harbaugh's wedding day, parents of John & Jim, thereby making possible 3 critical wins over Pittsburgh in the same season. ;)
    Twenty years of Cheers.
Thanks Baltimore Ravens Fans - You're the Best!

    1. Flacco to Smith with 8 seconds remaining against Pittsburgh.
    2. Torrey Smith 3 TD day.
    3. Rice rushes for over 200 yards.
    4. Flacco draws Cleveland Rookie offside for the win.
    5. Week 1 rout over Pittsburgh
    6. Winning the Harbaugh bowl.
    7. Arizona comeback
    8. Ravens winning without Ray Lewis
    9. Undefeated at home
    10. So far undefeated in Division

Technically speaking it wasn't the wedding day that did it. ;)

    1. Week 1 (I'm probably the only one who's going with this over Week 9, but I don't think we're totally comprehending just how unbelievable this was. We didn't just get back at the Steelers, we humiliated them in the most thorough and dominant manner possible. The most dominant performance I've ever seen from a Ravens football team.)

    2. Flacco to Torrey to complete the sweep
    3. Thanksgiving
    4. Judgment Day (the release of Mason, McGahee, Heap, and Gregg)
    5. Torrey Smith's coming out party against the Rams
    6. Defensive dominance against the Jets
    7. 29-14 victory over Houston
    8. Arizona comeback
    9. 31-24 victory over Cincy
    10. Extension of Marshall Yanda/Signings of Pollard and Leach

Honorable Mention: Winning the Super Bowl twice in the regular season. That sounds pretty hard to do.

Only a couple but I will post again if I think of more.
Is it wrong to think that seeing fan favorites go is never a good thing? Those guys brought so much more to Baltimore than what they did on the field. Moving on certainly hasn't backfired but there are better things that have happened to the Ravens and their fans, than losing a bunch of all time great Ravens in one season.

    1) The Pittsburgh sweep. First time since 2006 that we swept them. And the first two times in Flacco's career that they have beaten Pitt with Jen under center.

    2) Joe to Torrey for the sweep sealing TD.

    3) Crushing Rex and his loud mouths for two years in a row.

    4) Torrey Smith falling to us. Where would this offense be without that guy?

    5) The resurgence of our pass rush. We go from in the bottom half of the league to leading the league in sacks.

    6) Finally getting some production out of our 2009 draft class. Oher has been much better at RT. Kruger no longer looks like a total bust. And Webb is by far the best DB on the team.

    7) Winning the Harbbowl.

    8) Getting Yanda back.

    9) One more.... Pernell McPhee. With the way this guy has played, he probably should have been our first round pick.

And that's all I got right now.

    - Ngata obliterating Mendenhall in week 1
    - Torrey Smith catching the two TD bombs in the Rams game
    - L-Webb's pick-six versus the Jets
    - Boldin taking over the second half of the Arizona game
    - Joe to Torrey for the sweep
    - Thanksgiving beatdown of the Niners
    - Ray Rice's 200+ against the Browns
    - Joe to Torrey to set up the winning FG against Arizona
    - Leach's block to set up Ray Rice's 3rd score against Arizona
    - Clinching our fourth straight playoff appearance

    - "the drive" @Pitt
    - anytime anyone used the abbreviation "Pitt" (beacuse I'm swedishhttp://translate.google.com/#sv|en|pitt)
    - Torreys coming out party @Rams
    - Thanksgiving beatdown of SF, the 9 sacks, Vonta destroying Willis, a good game in general and a pleasure listening to Mike Mayock.
    - Anytime Vonta Leach steamrolled a defender.
    - Not a specific moment, but watching Webb really stepping it up has been great and McPhee and Kruger have been fun to watch as well.
