Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
He has to be able to throw the ball into tight spaces where only his receivers can catch it. I've seen him flash that ability to stick it in his guys hand in between defenders (the nice TD catch by Dickson) but he has to do it on a consistent basis and throughout the whole game.

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
I have been a Flacco supporter for a while now. And after last night's game, the thought of a new QB came to mind. Granted the defense did him NO favors (scoring on the first 5 drives and most of them being long drives is not what the Ravens defense is about) but I thought there were throws that Flacco could have and should have made. Flacco's passes were way off, the Rive dump off that would have netted at least 5 yards on a 3rd and 3, the overthrows on Torrey Smith over the middle, even some of the completions were off target. Watching Rivers and Flacco was like night and day. Then the passes he didnt make and took sacks topped it for me. Flacco has a great arm, fit it in those tight windows, or throw to the receivers with one on one becase we have receivers and TEs that can go get the ball.
This loss is on the whole team, Flacco doesnt play well in a big hole, and the defense looked uninspired. A loss tonight in SF by Pitt is still possible, and who knows what the last two games of the season will bring. It definately makes it exciting to watch, but I do wish the Ravens were contending for the number 1 seed, instead of the #3 or #5 seed.
One bright spot- nice return by David Reed. Reed is so much more explosive than Zibby- I hope Reed gets some more touches. He almost blew by the coverage with two hands wrapped around the ball.

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
I believe what I see and time and time again Joe crumbles. He has had a couple wow throws this year but not enough to even be considered more than an above average quarterback. We have again used a high draft pick on a qb who has not turned out to be the one who can take us to an AFC Championship victory or a Super Bowl win. It will be a mistake to resign Flacco for big money.

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
I too have been a vehement Flacco supporter for sometime now... defending him to Patriots fans and Steelers fans, noting his win-loss record (he's currently sixth all-time, believe it or not), his many records broken, the flashes of brilliance he shows, e.g., the 92-yard thing of beauty in Pittsburgh. "If only he would be more consistent," I'd say...
I just don't know anymore. I don't think Joe Flacco is worth the trouble of defending him.

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
Well at least no fumbles last night
It's happened so often this season [eleven times I think], I was expecting it everytime the pressure closed in on him

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
As the team goes so goes Joe.......he is as good as they are. Last night, the Ravens were flat and looked slow. I really think the flight took something out of there legs, and possibly the day off for travel Friday was a mistake.

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
The evidence is pretty overwhelming that it IS Cam. I stated this in another thread but I'll share it here - Joe has the same EXACT QB rating under Cam (85.8) that Brees/Rivers (85.8) had under Cam. Cam has never coached a 4,000 yard passer himself but Brees/Rivers have been over 4,000 yards 10 of 11 combined seasons since leaving Cam. Not saying that Joe would automatically become elite under a better coordinator but if Brees/Rivers couldn't be any better under Cam I'm not sure how we can expect Joe to be...

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
This board after a loss is like a bad accident on the highway. You try to drive forward but you just gotta look.
So what then if the Steelers lose tonight? Watch how the tone changes.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and thoughts so heres mine, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET OVER IT!
Have a great and productive day everyone and Merry Christmas.:D

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
Joe Flacco just doesn't seem to thrive in this offense. That's going to be addressed in the offseason. Cam will be out and they're going to go with something new and different.

Re: Where have you gone, Joe?
I can't see Manning ever coming here, but if he did, the best part would be Cam no longer calling plays. I get it, he didn't abandon the run. Yet, Joe's back there trying to wait for these plays to develop and somebody to get open and getting sacked or checking down to Rice, which the Chargers were waiting for after the first couple times.
Then there was the play to Torrey Smith and even the announcers were wondering where that kind of play call had been in the game.
Air Coryell belongs in a museum, just like Cam does. As Captain Silver said --in this thread or one of the others-- the best teams don't run offenses like this. Is it any wonder that Cam looks like a genius when Joe throws to Torrey Smith? That's how it's supposed to run, but it's not always going to work out that way. It even looks pretty when it functions the way its drawn up.
However, it's not always going to run the way it's drawn up; linebackers and safeties are faster than ever and teams will just play two deep safeties. I can see why Joe doesn't want to just throw it up there. He probably sees 3 receivers within 5 yards of no less than 4 defenders on any given passing play because the main underneath game is Rice and nothing else.---
