Did the 49ers get shafted?
Everyone in the media is going crazy about the 49ers going across the country on short rest. Do you think it's really that big of a disadvantage or much to do about nothing? In the end both teams just have to play the same game...

I don't think it's really that big a deal. They lose a day of practice, big whup.

I think it is.
The jet lag. The time change when you lose 3 hours. It's psychological but nonetheless damaging.

It's not the timezones, it's the players that get off the bus

Re: Did the 49ers get shafted?
They've logged a lot of miles this year. They've had road games at Cincinnati, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, and now Baltimore. That's 3 coast to coast trips, and two 2/3 of the way.

Packers are playing their third game in 11 days tomorrow and I don't hear a peep about that.

No excuses in the NFL, they are definitely not in an easy spot, but you roll with the punches...

Re: Did the 49ers get shafted?
Then again, if you remember a couple years ago the Cardinals got destroyed by the Eagles on thanksgiving night...same situation. Ended up beating the Eagles @ home in the NFC championship and made the superbowl

It is a disadvantage to them. They're losing more than one day of practice compared to the normal routine between games.
It's not an insurmountable disadvantage, but it is a disadvantage.

Re: Did the 49ers get shafted?
Thursday's suck for all players, sucks worse if you have to fly across the country. The 9'ers are using it as motivation,as in the league screwed them.

Re: Did the 49ers get shafted?
The other thing is the body clocks, which is not a detriment to the 9ers since the Left Coast is 3 hours behind the Least Coast. The 9ers will feel like they're starting the game at 5:20 PM while the Ravens will feel like they're starting at 8:20 PM. No big deal.
It's gonna be a lot more interesting (in the sense of the Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times") when the Ravens go to San Diego for a night game. Our guys are going to feel like they're starting the game at 11:20 PM.
