Optimistic for Seahawks game..
Exciting news.

Do you think he will have a good impact on the offense? Or will it not be different from having Laquan out there?

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
Maybe not his first couple of games back but by the end of the regular season teams are gonna have to respect him.

Very exciting news -- if he plays 10-15 snaps this week it'd be great!

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
We know what the Cincy defense can do.....and this time around they aren't going to surprise us. We also have more weapons than ever before, even two guys who can make them pay with the deep ball. That was something that we have NEVER had, and defensive coaches are going to have to respect Joe more.....that means less blitz IMO and more cover. Last time in Cincy they got pressure with 4, and we can't allow that.
But first things first...Seattle.Way Down South in New Orleans

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
Hopefully he can bounce back and we really need him for the Bengals game. The Bengals have owned Joe but now we have the one receiver who has killed them repeatedly:
Bengals-killer Lee Evans. The wide receiver has three straight 100-yard games against Cincinnati, including the 165-yard show in Buffalo three years ago. The Bengals have seen plenty of this guy. He’s averaging 19.7 yards per his 19 catches against them in the last three games.
This was the scouting report from last year's Bengals-Bills game and that was the shootout game in which Stevie Johnson scored 3TDs and broke out the "Why So Serious" shirt, Evans had 2 catches 72 yards. The point is Evans has repeatedly killed the Bengals so if he can come back healthy he will be the big difference in helping Joe get over his struggles against the Bengals.

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
IF Evans can play a few snaps this weekend, that'll be fine. All he has to do is show Cincy he can go deep. That and Torrey will be enough to shake them up. Do NOT underestimate the Bengals.

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
Like I said in another thread, having Evans and Torrey split out will force defenses to respect both of them. Then, Boldin can do his thing in the slot. I'm really curious as to how they will lineup with Evans back. I don't think that you take Torrey off the field. He's been too good.

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
I think you bring Evans back slowly, so that if you have two receivers on the field it is Boldin and Smith, then on three wide sets you move Boldin to the slot with Evans and Smith on the outside. If somehow Evans starts lighting it up like it's pre-season all over again, then you think about starting him over Torrey as the #2. It's a good problem to have.

Good news but i dont see him at full speed for a few weeks, he basically has to work himself back into "football" shape.

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
sounds like he is testing it and nothing more. Last time he did that, he couldn't go at all the following day. It's likely gonna be baby steps...

Re: Lee Evans returns to practice..
Your question tells me that you're unfamiliar with Evans' play.
From the piece:
For Evans to return to game action, he wants to be able to bring his entire range of abilities to the field.
“You can’t just be able to do one thing,” Evans said. “It’s a dynamic position, so you have to be able to run, cut, jump, twist, fall, the whole nine. So just because I can run doesn’t mean I can play the game, and that’s the bottom line.”
Evans is a very smart person.
When he comes back fully healthy you will be amazed. If/when that happens, I'm telling you now, pencil the Ravens in for a trip to Indianapolis!!! It's all they're missing in the equation right now pending further injuries.
