Sat by Gruden in 1st class today

What a way to start the day - great guy, very talkative. He was on the way back to Tampa after the MNF game. Man that was an awesome time.

talked about flacco, Ravens, Pitt, Raiders, etc.

I asked him about that hit on McClain that was flagged on MNF and he said something like 'this damn commissioner is ruining the game'. sound familiar?

I said 'I think Flacco is bipolar' and he said, yes he is and so is that whole team ;)

I asked him if he missed coaching and he said yes, I miss it a lot sometimes. Seemed like a genuine guy

Gruden is one of the few commentators(aside from Jaws) that I see eye to eye with.

I would have probably jumped off the plane or thrown his ass off.

I can't stand listening to him! The sound of his voice males my skin crawl and he says some off the wall shit.

He slobbers over every player. Don't think I can recall him ever heaping negativity on a player, and if he has, it's been very rare.

But I've always chalked that up to him not wanting to burn any potential bridges back into coaching. I can imagine that it'd be very awkward if he trashed some players on national TV, then ends up being hired as their coach a few months later.

I like him. Whatever his faults, he's still light years ahead of Kornheiser. Seems like a genuinely nice guy, too. Glad to hear that it's not just the fans who think Roger is ruining our sport.

Sounds like a good experience. They are a good broadcasting team on MNF.

The guy seems to love football. He respects the players and the talent.

I heard him speak at a luncheon. He said the casual fan has no idea how good the talent is in the NFL.

The average person can't imagine the athleticism.

Stayed in the same hotel at the Super Bowl last year as the ESPN crew....had a drink with Gruden at the bar and heard him telling stories of partying with Kid Rock and Sean Peyton his first night in town. Nice guy and sounds like he parties like a rock star.
