They go back a ways.
Both were on the Ravens 1998 team.

Apparently Vinny Cerrato on 105.7 had said that the conversation between John Harbaugh and Mason was caught on the mic. Harbs said "You'll always be a Raven."

Considering how Mason mouthed off and tried to pick fights with us when he was here in a Jets uniform, I'm very impressed by John's professionalism in that situation. I know he has his moments where he gets fired up, but he and his brother are like night and day when it comes to controlling their emotions.

I don't know about your conclusion there, but I agree John's remark to Mason was all class.

Well I was going by Jim Harbaugh's history as far as outbursts. ESPN ran down a few incidents over the years and I don't think its too much of a stretch to say that Jim get a little too emotional at times when compared to John:

He got into it with Ditka when he was the Bears QB
He got in a scuffle with Jim Kelly when Kelly criticized him
He got into it with Pete Carroll once before after a college game
And of course the Schwartz handshake from Sunday

I haven't seen John have anything replayed or dissected like his brother Jim, so that's why I can see their personalities in that regard as night/day. They both get riled up, but its that fine line you cross that gets you in trouble. John hasn't crossed that yet.

I had heard it started then too.

The NFL network showed the 1st Q challenge, and Schwarts yelling at the 49ers bench and Harbaugh.

Then, at the post game shake, Harbs went in jubilent, and made the smart -ass comment, "know the rules" back to Schwartz. Then Schwartz followed him, trying to get in his face to which you can see Harbs tell him to "get out of here" with possibly an expletive in there...

As someone from Bristol said, "Schwartz started it, Harbs finished it."

I think Jim Harbaugh over did it. But it wasn't the huge slap in the face Jim Swartz is making it out to be. Swartz ended up being the ass here. Hey, the Harbaugh family is on our side and Jim used to play for us, so I've got the side with Jim Harbaugh here anyway. I can't wait for the Thanksgiving game!
