    Cincy tips

    Hi everyone,

Have planned on going to Cincy a few times but haven't gotten there yet. By the looks of things, they will be practically giving tickets away. Hubby & I are thinking of a New Year's trip. Is it worth it? What's your thoughts on the city?Stadium? Anything cool to do there?

    Thanks!
    Jess

I've always enjoyed going to Cincy to v isit friends & relatives. Great chili and zoo. Not highly congested. Frankly, there's not much more that I can recommend about Cincy, except to say that it's better than Cleveland! But note that I'm not big on urban night life unless it's an entertainment oriented city such as Nashville or New Orleans, so someone else may be a better source

If you fly, avoid Delta (unless you can get a great weekend fare) -- highest hub prices in the country. Fly Southwest to Louisville or Air Tran to Dayton is usually half the price.

If you drive, you can avoid the truck traffic, tolls, Columbus congestion by taking I-68 to US 50 across WV, to OH 32.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

If you're into casinos theres one in Lawrenceburd, Indiana which we always go to when going to a Cincy game which is about an hour or less from Cincy. Hollywood Casino now which formerly was Argosy Casino.

    Casinos are definitely our speed.

Air Tran has nonstops into Dayton. Airfare will run about $438 but still looking. We may just do this. We normally do an away game each year but our schedules really won't allow for any of the easy games due to a mid-November Disney trip.

    Thanks for the info!

Career and family have me stuck here in Cincitucky, so feel free to PM me for info, directions, etc. and YES, you can get tickets here for a song, even when the Bungs are "competitive" (2-6, 3-7, 4-4, 5-9, etc,). Being New Year's day, you should be able to get something for change. Bengals fans are extremely fair-weather; every game is blacked out this year and yesterday I believe was the lowest attended game in franchise history.

One time I was downtown on a Sunday for a concert around 1:30 and someone handed me a ticket and said "here, you can have this".

As far as things to do, try Newport on the Levee (that's how much this city sucks, you have to cross the river into Kentucky for a good time). There's a big entertainment complex called The Banks near the stadiums, but I'm not sure how much of that is open yet; they've only had 10 YEARS to plan it.

The zoo is one of the better ones in the world, but Baltimore's aquarium is way better than the one here.

You do need to try the chili parlors around here.

Anyway, please let me know if there are questions you have about planning your trip. I may go to this game depending on hangover status.

    Anyway,
