Steelers 25 million over 128 million cap for next year.

Comments? It is going to make signing Wallace tough.

Willie Colon deal is a head scratcher and it's part of the problem; then they gave hair a new contract...

they will have to make some moves to free up space

Yea especially since it now appears he is yet again done for the year. Colon tore his triceps

Seems like they do this every year and somehow get under the cap

It's because they restructure. Take a vet due a HUGE cap number towards the end of their contract, tack on another 2-3 years and convert the big salary into a bonus spread over the life of the contract.

We've done it before too. This year was just the year we decided to stop extending the guys who were obviously going to be out of our plans next year and take the cap charge now. If not next year, Steelers will be forced to make that change in the next few years.

Let them keep giving their geezers a bunch of money after they turn 30 so we can see them get even slower.

The Polamalu deal is nuts. $30 million guaranteed? For a guy that has missed major chunks of 2 of the last 3 seasons.. NUTS...

    Correct. It's a 4 year, $36.5 million deal with $10.55 mil guaranteed.

The trouble with that strategy is that it trades short-term relief for additional pain in the future.

It might be why the Steelers are heading towards such significant cap trouble next year. You can only kick the can so far down the road.

I think the Mason/Heap treatment could be in line for some of the Steelers next year...

Farrior will retire. Aaron Smith will retire. Harrison, Hampton and Ward will be asked to take pay cuts or they'll be cut. Ben will restructure yet again and they'll be under
