Re: Colon to IR: Jamon Meredith
This is too bad, Steeler or not, you never want to see this happen. Good thing this didn't happen earlier in the preseason, McKinnie may have never become the offensive line savior that he appears to be.

Re: Colon to IR: Jamon Meredith
The rumor was they were going to go with Flozell Adams.

Torn triceps. Man, that's not good, and he's had major injuries before.
Festivus
His definitions and arguments were so clear in his own mind that he was unable to understand how any reasonable person could honestly differ with him.

Re: Colon to IR: Jamon Meredith
It wasn't just McKinnie though.
They passed on Brian Waters, Nick Kazcur, Mark Tauscher, etc.
Trai Essex filled in decently at RT last year. They could have done a fair amount. They chose not to because Roethlisberger doesn't "need" an all-pro line to be good.
Flozell Adams is still available as well.
I'd also like to point out that they used a 1st round pick on an overrated DL'man (Cameron Heyward from Ohio State) rather than going after a Derrek Sherrod or something.
I'm sorry to see this happen and I'm sure come November if we beat them again this will be "THE reason" why we won, but they did it to themselves. They invested a ton of money into line backers and safeties, but no money into their OL and corners.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Colon to IR: Jamon Meredith
Willie "Swollen" Colon shut down for the year.
Suggs is already licking his chops.

They were too busy handing out overblown contracts to the over 30's club.

Re: Colon to IR: Jamon Meredith
The article in the first post of this thread says that Flozell Adams would cost too much. They couldn't fit him in under the cap.
Meredith's signing likely means the team won't pursue veteran Flozell Adams, whom the Steelers released shortly after camp began as a cost-cutting move. The 36-year-old Adams started 16 games at right tackle as Colon's replacement last season but would command too high a salary for the team to fit under the cap.

Re: Colon to IR: Jamon Meredith
I checked out a couple of Steelers' message boards and their posters are upset. They feel that Pittsburgh's front office arrogantly decided to return the same team, without upgrading the two major weaknesses of the team, the offensive line and the cornerback position. As of right now, it seems that they were right. They felt that the pass rush could make up for the cornerbacks again and that Ben could make up for the offensive line.
One poster was upset that they did not draft Aaron Williams, the CB from Texas, when they had the chance."Please take with you this final sword, The Excellector. I am praying that your journey will be guided by the light", Leon Shore

What I heard today was that they are going ahead with their backup guard for now. That darn salary cap. :)
