Re: Jaguars to release David Garrard
I'd take him as a backup. Hell he's beaten the Steelers in the playoffs.

Re: Jaguars to release David Garrard
At this point it's highly unlikely that Garrard will get a major pay day anywhere.
He's not Donovan McNabb.
We should offer him a 2 year deal and let him have the opportunity to pass on his knowledge to Flacco, Tyrod, and have the opportunity to win a championship before he retires.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Jaguars to release David Garrard
Pretty crappy move by Jax IMO. Not so much the release, as the timing of it.
They've pretty much ensured that he won't have a chance to go anywhere else and compete for a starting job from the jump.

Re: Jaguars to release David Garrard
He is/was due $8M so they cut him for economic reasons... and because they don't really care if they win.
I doubt that the Ravens or many teams could afford him as a bench warmer. He could probably start for a few teams right now. But Indy would make a lot of sense

Re: Jaguars to release David Garrard
Garrard's salary aside, the move strikes me as a bit of a shocker. When I think of the Jags, I automatically think Garrard. But I guess a few of those surprises happen every year about this time...
I don't see him coming to Baltimore for the reasons others have already mentioned.

Ozzie: get on the phone .... now!
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Trent Dilfer on the Scott Van Pelt show seems to think he is injured.

The timing of this doesn't make a lot of sense....

Re: Jaguars to release David Garrard
Makes me think this was not a Del Rio decision. What coach would want to go into the season without his starting QB? Especially one that gave the job to and stuck up for? This smells of the owner looking to cut some payroll after spending big money on other players. Garrard has been hurt all preseason. They don't want to risk guaranteeing his salary since they know he's gone at some point for Gabbert.
