Just on Ngata, can teams use the franchise tag two years in a row?
Or is that gone now with the new CBA?

I still think Chris Carr might be cut. He didn't really play at all during the pre-season and while Chykie Brown is pretty raw, he's made the most of his opportunities and played some decent ball. I also think we could keep someone like Gorrer for depth purposes.

maybe Mr. Newsome is waiting for cut day / sign fa before a Ngata deal so he'll know how much cap space he has to work with.

Why did we not sign Wilson over Carr?

I dont see that happening, they wouldnt give him a new contract, signing bonus, and guaranteed money just to cut him before he even played a game for them. hes been injured and knocking the rust off, but he'll be good to go and a great nickel back and spot starter for us.

He was one of our most reliable players on D last year. I think you will see a lot of him next Sunday if he is healthy. No way they cut him. Our secondary could be godo but the other guys are very unproven.

Money and the fact that Wilson wanted to play for his hometown team.

Yes, he can be franchised again. That option was carried over into the new CBA.

There's no way they're going to cut Carr because of the guaranteed money on the new contract. Unless you're the Bengals, you don't sign a guy, give him a bonus and then cut him (Antonio Bryant) in the same season.

How much was the guaranteed money?

Leftwich was put in IR with his broken left arm, so it's most likely Batch is our #2. He started last night and played a very limited amount, but looked good (granted it was against Carolina). Dixon played most of the game and he will be #3. He had his moments, but struggled more than he should of IMO.
