If Heap hadn't picked up on the Polamalu blitz in week 4 last season, Flacco doesn't connect with Housh for the game winning TD. I also noticed Heap connecting on some key blocks to create holes for both Rice and McGahee.

Heap will be missed, but the addition of Leach will more than make up for the loss of Heap with blocking
The team and everyone else seems to disagree also about Heap not being able to block.

I think fans are making a mountain out of a molehill here. There are 90 guys in camp, and there are rules about numbers and positions. You can't give a TE #61 - he has to have a legal number. There probably aren't enough numbers to go around.

Until 52 hangs them up, that will be the only sacred cow number.

That's not entirely true...Ed Reed has been wearing #3. Besides, I think #85 is open ;)

Wonder if they're saving #84 for when Housh comes back?

The Ravens respect that number so much they gave it to Johdrick Morris, TE.

Ah well, so much for my theory...

Morris = Stupak = camp fodder

You gotta give out numbers to the guys on the field. BUT, they certainly could have avoided #86...at least for this season.

They should retire #86 and Heap goes into the ring of honor some day and they should
have done the same with #99.

But the numbers for Bubba, Matte and Mike Curtis were never retired either and someone in Indy still wears them or used to. Makes me sick especially when we play Indy and you see them.

good. I like Heap & valued his contributions but retire his number? absurd.

Nobody was crying about Webb wearing 21. It's football. It's a number.
