    Re: Ray Rice's backup?

Ray Rice's backup will either be Jason Snelling or Anthony Allen.

I think Harrison is too close to Ray Rice to really be effective.

Allen has been looking good in camp...dont see any reason why he shouldnt be the #2 at this point.

Snelling would be a great pickup. I can't believe the market has been so soft for him.

The reason is 2001. If you are going to be a running team you need depth at the position. We learned that the hard way in 2001. That's why the Jets went out and signed LT last year have kept him this year. The risk is too great unless you have a Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning who don't need a running game to move the offense.

Michael Bush would be a good pickup too.

What'd he get tendered at? Cause there's 0% the Raiders can match.

There is a difference between lack of experience and lack of ability. The better comparison would be what the backs from 2001 and now are capable of.

Another problem with that 2001 unit was a lack of the depth on the offensive line. Same as right now. It doesn't matter who the #2 rb is if we don't get a vet tackle and some interior line depth. What happens if oher goes down. How does cousins and reid sound as bookends? Who spells birk when his knee gives out?
