That would be a huge upgrade

Thanks for all the great info - what a great resource! So correct me if I'm wrong, the Ravens are not quite in the same ballpark as a Tampa Bay in terms of cap space, but around the top 10-15 at this moment?

I heard on The Fan this morning that they may look to bring Mason and Heap back, just at a discount.

Maybe with the short timeline Ozzie didn't feel there was time to negotiate reduced contracts, so he's taking the cut and re-sign approach to ensure their is cap space now.

Who knows. It's all speculation right now I guess.

Sounds like Mason is more interested in returning than Heap.

    That sounds like Mike Preston.

    B-ravor --
Thanks for doing a great job of clarifying the always obtuse (at least in my mind ;)) CAP picture. Do you (or anyone else here) have any ideas/thoughts on what the arrangement is re: Ngata? Since I've seen your picture, I know you're not the same person as Ozzie (although I must confess I've never seen the two of you in the same room at the same time), so I'm not expecting mindreading, but what's the likely scenario/savings/CAP numbers, assuming Haloti remains a Raven?

    Thanks...

    B-More Ravor,

If the Baltimore Ravens did release Dominique Foxworth, how much money would they save in cap space for the 2011 season and how much dead money would that lead to for the 2012 salary cap?

I'd imagine that with the cap credit and after signing our draft picks and resigning Yanda but not restructuring Ngata, we'd have about $10 million in cap room left.

If we can get Ngata restructured by Friday, that number probably goes up to $15-16 million or so.

On his spreadsheet, Ravor had stated that releasing Fox would free up about $4.4 million.

He has a ridiculous cap number of over $7 million though so I'd imagine they talk to him about restructuring.
