Redskins want to sign Yanda
Hopefully this doesn't turn into a bidding war. Ozzie is not going to outspend a team like that. They are also interested in Gaither and Chester but I doubt we keep either of them if any team offers them even a mid-level contract
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ins-wish-list/
According to a report from Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, the Redskins have a long wish list with Santonio Holmes as the “primary objective” and Ravens guard Marshall Yanda near the top of the list. Both players figure to be highly coveted by multiple teams, including the ones they played for last year. The Jets and Ravens can’t love the idea of the Redskins entering the bidding.
(The Jets may have flashbacks to 2003, when the Redskins raided their roster including the Laveranues Coles signing.)
The spending won’t stop there. Team sources tell La Canfora the team would be surprised if they don’t land both Cullen Jenkins and Kris Jenkins for their defensive line. Giants defensive tackle Barry Cofield could also be added, while Chris Chester or Jared Gaither could be fallback options to Yanda. (Washington’s line coach has Ravens connections.)

Re: Redskins want to sign Yanda
I'd be gutted if Yanda left, one of the best guards in the league and we all saw the importance of the OL last year
Question: Ngata is franchised but if he signed a long term deal in the next month or two, can Ozzie then use the franchise tag on another player like Yanda?
This would give one year to try to work out a deal
Is such a thing possible?

Re: Redskins want to sign Yanda
GOTA--
Any idea how the salary cap concept will work if/when a new labor agreement is put in place? For example, will "all contracts" start from "Go!", such that previous CAP limitations for outyears will be reset to zero, or will all previous salary/bonus allocations remain intact for a new arrangement, or will there be a transition formula, or other?
A couple things related to the Warsgington franchise make me ask. One, over the last 10 years or so, they always seemed to be able to award exorbitantly reported contracts to players, to the point where quick math made me wonder how they weren't violating the CAP limits. Second, is the Albert Haynesworth QE3 ;) over and done with to the point where his contract numbers do not (or would not, in the case of a new agreement) impact what Warshington can pr cannot do?
Thanks....

Re: Redskins want to sign Yanda
OK, everyone start some rumors about how awesome Chris Chester is. Gotta get the word out that the dude is an athletic freak. :liar:
Yanda? Aw, he's just some hayseed farm boy. Mr. Snyder, you don't want to waste your time with him.
<jedi mind trick>
Yanda is not the offensive linemen you're looking for.

Re: Redskins want to sign Yanda
Well, I think we all knew that resigning Yanda wouldn't be easy, but really now we are probably looking at potentially making Yanda the highest paid guard in the league with the Redskins involved.
Don't know if I quite want to go that far...there are going to be quite a few OG's out there that will probably be cheaper...

Re: Redskins want to sign Yanda
There are ways to massage the cap. The Redskins also have no problem cutting many of those underachievers.
If you have a good accountant, you can definately massage the cap...the Eagles for instance used to use those infamous "likely to be earned incentives" clauses in thier contracts that would create a TON of cap space every year...despite annually haveing one of the best and highest paid teams in the league.
The Ravens don't seem to be very creative...not a knock necessarily, but they are more traditional in thier dealings with the cap...along teams like the Steelers and Colts.
