It's a deal - biggest cuts in history
Damn, in a massive victory for Boehner, he makes a deal which is
the biggest budget cuts in history while averting a gov't shut down
with $38.5M worth of cuts.
Boehner agreed with OBY and Reid late Friday night after they had accused him of
him of welching on a deal at $33B but he kept on going and got more added on.
It's still below the $60B GOP wanted but it's a great start.
I thought Boehner was caving at $23B but he kept moving forward.
There has to be some compromise. Everyone knew they wern't getting $60B
but $38.5B ain't bad. $23 would have been a victory for the DEMs and I thought
Boehner was caving then. Everyone should know that when you negotiate you never
start at the number you really want or expect to get so you come in high and fight
for the rest.

He said $33 billion in cuts was too little, despite Obama and Reid saying he had agreed to
that number only to renege, and in the final deal he scored nearly $6 billion more in reductions
than that. Boehner said policy riders would have to be a part of a final package, and indeed they
were.

Only Michelle Bachman and Jordan of Ohio are critics of it along with some
Tea Partiers but Boehner was cheered by the GOP when he announced a deal.
While some Partiers and Bachman might be upset, you have to start somewhere and
a history making deal is a damn good start.
It's the largest cuts in history and Galen said he had lost control.
See Boehner loses control thread and this.

In a larger sense, Boehner has achieved more than just a short-term budget victory — in
his first three months as speaker, he’s helped turn the entire Washington dialogue into a
debate about the size and scope of government. He started the year by getting rid of
earmarks, he’s pushing through some of the deepest spending cuts in American history,

This is a victory for the children. They may not be poor after all paying for the
deficit with even bigger cuts coming. The GOP is trying to save the children and
country with the Liberals fighting them every step of the way.
Don't forget, this spending spree started with the 16 Admendment in 1913 which brought
in income taxes from the rich which started a spree that spiraled out of control for
nearly a century. It's finally being cut.

And get this.
The US debt jumped $54B in the 8 days of negotiating before this deal
to cut the budget by $38B for the rest of the year.
