    Stats help please?

Could any stat man help me out here.

    Quastion:
In the 10 years since our SB win, how many times have the Ravens lost to the AFC champions in the play-offs?

    I suspect that it's a few!!!

    That being so:

Does any other team have a record so close?

    Re: Stats help please?

Under Harbaugh the Ravens 3 playoff losses have all come at the hands of the eventual AFC representative in the Superbowl. Before that Billick lost his final playoff game to the Superbowl Champion Colts.

The 2003 Ravens lost to the Titans who lost in the Divisional round and the 01 team lost to Pitt who then lost the AFC Championship to the Patriots.

So in our Franchises's 6 playoff losses 4 have come at the hands of the eventual Superbowl team and of those 4, 2 have won it all, one lost and one is TBD.
My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging. -Hank Aaron

The Chargers and the Colts might have similar results in the AFC, and definitely the Eagles in the NFC.

    Re: Stats help please?

    By my count...

From 2001 - 2010 only the Eagles have more playoff eliminations by the eventual conferece champ...

    Eagles - 5
    Ravens - 4
    Jets - 3
    Colts - 3
    Falcons - 3

If you add in losses in the Super Bowl ...

    Eagles - 6
    Ravens - 4
    Colts - 4
    Jets - 3
    Falcons - 3

If you only count eliminations by Super Bowl winning teams, ignoring eliminatinos by conference champs who lost in the Super Bowl ...

    Colts - 4
Steelers - 2 (Will be 3 if they lose this year)
Ravens - 2 (Will be 3 if Steelers win this year)
Eagles - 2 (Will be 3 if the Packers win this year)
    Cardinals - 2
    Patriots - 2
    Raiders - 2

I think we are all with you on that one.

You can look at it in a few ways - most not positive:

We are the AFC 'chokers' with the Eagles taking the NFC and overall prize.
    and
We were, and still remain, a damn good ball club. (So are the Eagles)
    and
Of all of those losses this is the one we can truly say we gifted it to someone else.
    and
It will be a sad legacy for the Ray Lewis era when it comes to and end.
