Damon "Bulldog" Yaffee does it again

I happend to hear Blowhard Bulldog Damon Yaffee say something to the effect of "Everyone that knows me knows I'm openly rooting for the Steelers to get #7. They are a class organization and it shows on the field". That's not word for word, but what a joke.

How can someone say that around here on the radio this week. It's like mocking a relative at a funeral. How can this guy get away with saying something like this. Isn't he from Baltimore? I guess he puts his love of football knowledge and coaching style above true fandom. Kind of ironic, considering he is on "The Fan".

The guy cheered for the Steelers all year, and didn't even hide it. That's an embarrassment to not only the station, but to us as well. I would bet every dime I own in the world there is not a single person in Pittsburgh on their sports talk stations that would ever even joke about being a Ravens fan.

In some ways, I wish we would be more demanding on our local media to act like Pittsburgh's and be all in for the team. Or maybe they are just way more provincial than we are, and we are a more "cosmopolitan" city, which is wierd to think of Baltimore in that way, but when compared to Pittsburgh it's probably true.

Yea, and everyone always laughs when he says he knows about coaching because
he coaches high school ball. He's the JV coach of Boys Latin.

Then there's Marty Ass having Squeelers on like TP. Yea, he was talking about his
good works but Ass should have had Mason on talking about the homes his
foundation builds for inner ccity folks and he even physcially works on the
houses himself during the off season as part of his training.

Or Matt Birke who set up a foundation to assist old players like John Mackey who
are suffering from diseases as a reult of injuries from playing football. John took
too many blows to the head including running head first into the goal post.

Another old player with the same problem shot himself dead but Birke is one of
the only modern players helping the old vets out because they made it possible
for him to make his millions.

Marty also has Joe Gibbs on talking about nascars.

When TP was over he eve told Don Scott thast he would get scorched over this
and he was. When he recently MCed a concert at the Lyric he couldn't say one
world because the entire place booed him for a long time.

Then, Bruce Porningham calls message boards guys a bunch of clowns on his
show. That's after Sunspot and Scout ran several pages of threads blasting him.
The scout thread was highly critical of him interviewing Mark Zinno over in Iraq like he
was some big sports reporter. Zippo is another guy who knows nothing and infuriates people.

Bruce cried to Sunspot to remove the one on him after someone posted all the quotes from the
scout thread. Who do you think that was? You get three guesses. He can't threaten there because
he was banned for blowing up PM boxes and, um, threatening people.

I like Scott Garceau but he has Jeremy on who's from Indy and just said he bet
money on the Colts going back to the SB. He needs to take gambling lessons
    because he usually loses.

All these guys are an embarrassment to Baltimore except Scott but even he opened
today talking about the Bears for a long time w/o saying one thing about the Ravens
and Jeremy got into his betting schemes.

    Ugh!

I have no problem with guys liking other teams on their personal time. The radio thing...it's a job, you know? And radio jobs can be hard to come by, so sometimes, you have to go to a market that doesn't fit with your true like.

I don't mind them liking their teams, as long as they keep that off the air. I hate, HATE, HATE Mike Greenberg. Because EVERY TIME HE TALKS, EVERY SHOW....it's J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. Mark Sanchez is the greatest QB. Rex Ryan is my man lover. I mean, EVERY time I tune into them because my Baltimore signals are too weak, I'm reminded why I'd rather go to music radio instead. I just can't stand the homerism from him. Granted, that's not a Baltimore show, but THAT is the kind of talk I can't stand.

Personally, I think Jeremy and Scott do it best. Jeremy makes mention of the Colts from time to time, but he doesn't throw them into any discussions about the Ravens. And he's knowledgeable enough about the Ravens to have meaningful analysis and discussion of them without revealing that they are not his true team. Another guy who seemed to do a good job of keepin his "allegiances" off the air was Mark from Kirk and Mark. Guy grew up in Pittsburgh, but I could almost never tell he was a Steelers fan. He was respectful of the Ravens, never talked any crap...

“When I think of a Baltimore Raven - we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way.” - Steve Smith Sr.

Call me a Special Teams coach again. I dare you! I double dare you, MFer!

Sounds like the radio version of a troll. If nobody listened, he'd be gone.

But too many people are too easily manipulated into taking the bait. They can't control themselves.

Instead of saying "OK, I am not turning on that station" they say "ooh that lousy so and so -- I'll show him! I'm going to sit by my radio and transcribe his every statement for hours on end, then I'm going to sit up all night long, eviscerating his arguments line by line with my incredible intellect and THEN I'm going to call in tomorrow and DESTROY him so thoroughly with my carefully constructed arguments that he'll NEVER be on the radio again.... bwahahahahhahahahahahhhahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!"

And therein lies the reason why people like that stay on the radio.

Turn on the smooth jazz. Or get satellite radio. Pick up a Ziggy Marley CD and pop it in the player. Just don't listen. If you don't feed them, they go away.

Tony's gonna love this but I personally like the Beatles. A pretty gal was next to me
at the bar last night when someone sang Eleanor Rigby and she laughed when I
said I was in high school when it came out.

Not to change the subject but I also like Losac's AC/DC and sang Back in Black and
at the end I yelled into the mike- f*ck the Steelers. The place went wild.

So he is a douche for saying something that is true and that everyone already knows about him?

Your radios do have the ability to turn the station right?

    Hi SS:

Your quotes was one of the ones I put on sunspot and 21 on scout
has always been one of the best and more knowledgeable football
posters there for years and Bruce got into it with him.

919 who is in the know and has had guys over his house like Cal and Jim Palmer
    blasted Bruce too.

The funniest quote was on Sunspot when a guy said with his
thick mustache and hair do he looks like a porno star from the 80s.

I heard a soundtrack on The Fan that Ray Rice said he was rooting for the Steelers because they beat us, and he's a Raven...not a radio talk show guy. I guess they want an AFC North team to win it all, not just an AFC team.

    GO RAVENS!!!

Gotta agree with Bulldog. Though Pittsburgh is a hated rival, as a fan of the game of football, you have to admire their focused and aggressive approach to winning football. And if Pittsburgh represents the AFC North in the SB, you're dang right I'll cheer them on just like they were the Ravens. AFC football is the best football in the NFL ( check the records, the AFC has dominated the NFC by a huge margin in cross conference play a record 17 straight years ) and if Pittsburgh represents the AFCN in the Championship and the Bowl- then.... er..go stealers..

    This.

Pittsburgh breaks our collective hearts on a seemingly yearly basis, and to deny the pain is bogus. That being said, to ignore the quality and proficiency and consistency they exhibit is also bogus.

I don't like 'em as much as I respect 'em.

(btw, as NCRaven suggests, there is very little that a Marley or Tosh cd won't make just a bit better.)

I think people take their hate for the Steelers and decide that reality doesn't matter. You can bitch about Yaffe until you run out of breath. Doesn't change the fact that the Ravens are sitting at home 10 years running, and the Steelers are one game away from their 3rd Super Bowl in the last decade.
