The Tuck Rule "Brady Rule" is BS! (Worst Rule in NFL)

The tuck rule has to be thee worst rule in the NFL. How is it that the QB can pump fake the ball and get stripped and it is not a Fumble.

Not an exact definition but correct me if I am wrong

Fumble: When a player has possession of the ball and loses possession of the ball prior to being down.

How is it any different for the QB? This has to be the Worst Rule in the NFL and is total Bull Shit. The Rule needs to be addressed.

I hate to be dumb; but I really never understood the rule. Could someone please explain in plain language the tuck rule. What are the players tucking?

Basically if the QB pump fakes the ball and the ball is stripped while his arm is in motion forward it is not a fumble it is considered an incomplete pass. even though it is not an attempt to throw the ball forward or in the case that he wants to throw but decides not to and he drops his arm to prevent the ball from coming out (pump fake) it is not a fumble, even if the ball never leaves his possession or hand before being stripped.

    Did that help.
    Here you go.

If the QBs arm is coming forward and the ball is either:
    A- knocked out
    or
    B- falls out

it does not count as a fumble, but an incomplete pass.

That was the first of many rules to help out Tom Terrific.

Meh, I don't have a big problem with it.

The rule is stupid. If you need proof, go watch the Brady play where Woodson hit him and tell me that was not a fumble. Not by rule, by your gut...

By gut is meaningless. By rule it most certainly wasn't.

There are a lot of rules far worse than this one.

The rule is what it is and it is that way because on official has no way of knowing when the QB has decided to not throw the ball. Cassel's arm was moving forward, when does it stop being a pass? By rule, when it is finally tucked back away. Until then it is still a pass. This is to remove the officials from having to determine when it is no longer a pass. It is easy this way, when it is tucked. I wanted that fumble but I understand the rule and it was ruled correctly.

So instead of chancing an intentional grounding call why don't coaches teach the tuck move. That would change the rule real quick. I can't believe someone has not figured that out yet. Hell it could have saved us hundreds of sack yards this year.

Not that it matters, but even if that was an incomplete pass wasn't it still a backwards pass?
