THIS is why you want to win every division game!!!!!
RiW touched on it a few times in other threads today, but it bears pointing out.
You need to win every divisional game you can or you face a situation where you're not in the drivers seat come playoff time.
Handing the home game advantage to other teams is getting very old.

well said...
....but this was not a division loss. We're 2-1 in the division thus far..

I'd much prefer to be 3-0 in the division right now with loses to the Jets and Pats than where we sit today.
That was my point. Sorry if I was vague in my OP.

Houston, this doesn't make any sense. You'd rather have lost to the Jets and Pats, which are strong playoff contenders than the Bengals who are looking less and less so? Of course, you need to win the division to get there but they have a win against the Steelers and they're much more likely to be in the division race at the end.

If we would have lost to the Jets, and beat the Bengals we'd be in worsat shape now then we are in the "Home Field Advantage" race.
We'd still be 4-2
The Jets would be 6-0 with a 2 game lead in the home fields advantage catagory.
Essentially making it a 3 game lead because of the head to head. Will Die A Ravens Fan!!

Re: THIS is why you want to win every division game!!!!!
That's a stupid question anyway. I'd rather lose neither!
And I agree, had we lost to the Jets and beat the Bungles - we'd be in the same boat we are now, a half game behind in the division, but much further behind in the WC race. That head to head win over the Jets could be huge down the stretch. The Bungles are looking like they'll be a non-factor in either the AFCN or WC.
Seriously, can we all agree that there's no such thing as a good loss and if we could we'd like to win them all?

How many times has a team swept a division? I can think of last year off the top of my head and that is it. Playing for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs never comes down to division wins...it always transcends the division. This loss today will certainly outweigh the loss to cincy especially if we beat them in Baltimore.
