Ravens acquire Josh Wilson in trade with Seahawks
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 31, 2010 6:53 PM ET
The Baltimore Ravens have added a cornerback to their paper-thin secondary.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Ravens traded a conditional fifth-round pick to the Seahawks for cornerback Josh Wilson. The pick could become a fourth-rounder, depending on how many games Wilson starts in Baltimore.
Wilson started 12 games in each of the last two seasons for the Seahawks.Last edited by Marcel#52; 08-31-2010 at 07:07 PM. Reason: Updated info, added link.

Re: Josh Wilson, CB Seahawks to the Ravens
I like it.
He's very...very similar to Foxworth except he is a little more physical.
In no way is he a #1 or a shut down guy, but he is/can be a solid #2/3 guy.
Good depth with Washington/Wilson/Carr/Webb/Williams.
Highlight video...he's a heck of a return man...

Re: Josh Wilson, CB Seahawks to the Ravens
Great trade, to get Seattle's starting right CB for a conditional 4th/5th, is some classic Ozzie magic.
One other thing about Josh, when he gets his hands on the ball, he's dangerous, 3 of his 6 interceptions have been returned for TDs.
I found an awesome interview from earlier this year, with some interesting tidbits and quotes. Reporters who scan this board for ideas may want to read the whole thing for potential questions.

Key bits of insight:
Wilson is short at 5'9.5' but has a 6 foot wingspan.
Seattle fans think he is a great blitzer.
Seattle fans think he is good on the outside but dominates in the slot. Wilson says he gets more chance to make plays on the ball there.
Seems to be very eloquant for a football player and works the fans/media smoothly.
He enjoys press coverage, aggressive D, and focuses on making plays.
Is a good kick returner.

They are not playing about no weaknesses for that SB win. Someone said that was Seattle's starting right CB?

Guy is easily worth a 2nd day pick IMO.
This is the exact type of move I was expecting.
Nothing earth shattering but something viable.
Works for me.

Re: Josh Wilson, CB Seahawks to the Ravens
1) Wilson is a great player and a great person. All in all, a great trade.
2) About Wilson the player - short, but hits hard and doesnt' shy away from contact. Ball hawk tendencies but also not afraid to stick people. Plays with swagger. Fast as hell. Beast returner.
3) Awesome person. The media is going to LOVE this guy, he's a walking sound bite. One of the happiest people that I've ever known. Dude also has his head on straight had several high quality internships throughout college just in case the NFL didn't work out. Just a good citizen. Great teammate. Can't stress all of this enough.
GREAT pick up for a 5th round pick.

I just have a big stupid smile on my face! I'm excited about the move and we didn't give any players up in return.

Wow, this looks like a great move. I know nothing about the Seahawks, any idea why they'd trade a young starting corner for so little right before the season?

Re: Josh Wilson, CB Seahawks to the Ravens
Someone should go to jail the way Oz just stole something. This is unreal to get such a young/high upside corner for crumbs. WTH is their GM in Seattle thinking?
NOTE: Was he really not that important or are the Seahawks afraid to post this on team homepage for fear of fan backlash?
