Re: The Good and the Bad: The SB Commercials

I was disappointed with all the commerials this year. In the past they were better.

the two coke commercials (the video game driver, inside the vending machine) and the office jungle ones were good. the ganging up on the heart (diabetes, overweight) was pretty good. the FedEx was disappointing (the Alien one was one of the all time best). the CBS promos looked real lame compared to the others.

What I noticed was that it seemed that CBS overpriced the commercials. There was a LOT of spots for CBS' shows, etc. It seems that they fell far short of selling out the commercials, maybe that is why IMO, the collection of cemmercials as a whole was very weak as compared to years past. Also not nearly the creativity and shock value of the Go Daddy, Bud Frogs/Ferrets, etc.

I'm well aware that I am from a different era, but K-Fed, to me, looks like a pervert child molester! :(

The Snickers commercial was pretty bad -- it was borderline homophobic, and had the effect of making me not want to eat a Snickers.

The axe weilding bud light carrying hitch-hiker and the K-Fed were really the only two thad stood out.

The slap was OK. Rock paper scissors was unimpressive.

I guess I wasn't the only one who thought the Snickers commercial was creepy and homophobic -- it was announced today (or maybe yesterday) that the commercial has been pulled and won't be seen again.

Why was it homophobic? Why do straight guys have to pretend that we aren't grossed out by the thought of kissing another dude? Most straight men don't hate gays, but the thought of "doing something gay" ourselves is still cringeworthy for many. That's what the commercial was tapping into, not encouraging hate or discrimination against openly gay men.

Rack Losac. I don't care how many bones you smoke or smuggle in your own bedroom, but I do NOT want to be involved.

The funny thing is, I thought the anti-gay establishment would be up in arms about the Snickers commercial.

But it's the gay rights people up in arms.

Count me in with Losac and Greg.

That may be true, but the shock fctor will wear off quickly. It always does. As for me, I'll never eat a Snickers bar again. You can believe that.
    It's a new season! It's a new day!
