Bungles lose Odom for year, maybe more

Leader in sacks and another one of their good defensive players.

Antwan Odom out for the year

Posted by Mike Florio on October 18, 2009 7:07 PM ET

On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals fell to 4-2 with a loss to the up-and-down Texans.

News of an even bigger loss comes in the aftermath of the 28-17 defeat.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, defensive Antwan Odom has suffered a ruptured Achilles' tendon. Odom will miss the rest of the season.

Odom notched eight sacks this season, including five in Week Two against the Packers.

Frostee Rucker will likely replace Odom in the starting lineup.

Bengals worry about Domata Peko, too

With starting defensive end Antwan Odom already out for the year, the Cincinnati Bengals can now worry exclusively about defensive tackle Domata Peko.

Peko was lost on the third snap of Sunday's game with a knee injury.

The Bengals are waiting on the results of an MRI.

That could be a big blow to lose BOTH of them. If their D falters, I can't see them making the run to win the AFC North.

That puts the Stillers as the team to beat in the AFC North.

...and the Steelers look like a very beatable team to me.

Once again, the key to this season is beating the Steelers...if they sweep us again, forget it, no playoffs. If we can win one or two, we have a chance at going deep in the playoffs.

And they just beat the Browns by 13 while we smoked them by 31.

    The Stealers are beatable.

It will be a fight til the end in the AFC North.

The Browns are a hard team to get a handle on...

    We smoke them,
Then Cincy barely edges them in OT (but beats us in regulation week after)
Then they win in Buffalo, but can't do jack on offense other than running...
Then they match up decently with the Steelers.

My only concern with Pitt is Polamalu coming back...Browns only had one TD on offense...so Polamalu being back definitley puts their D back on track, and we don't get any games with them until he's had a month to fully heal.

So our offense will need to be VERY sharp against them. And our D needs to get better to keep up with Big Ben and Hiney Ward and San Antonio Holmes.

I have this sick feeling that Big Ben, Ward, and Holmes are going to carve up our soft underbelly.

I agree, this think is a long ways from over. Hopefully the team will collect themselves during the bye week, and punk the Broncos..
