I think it hurts even more today
After watching the Pats beat the Chargers yesterday realizing that the AFC Championship game could be here for the first time in RAVENS history. I felt all along that New England could beat the Chargers giving us the AFC Championship game. Right now August appears to be very far away.:(

Yep....makes a tough loss even worse now doesn't it? I want NE to beat Indy and whoever is in the NFC to beat NE. I'm hoping its the Saints.

Re: I think it hurts even more today
I also knew NE would win & before we walked in the game Saturday, we were making our tailgating plans for next Sunday.
I was letting it go ysterday & then had to watch NE win & it all crashed again. It was all in our hands & we couldn't hold up our end. What makes it worse is I have a Steelers fan across the street & a Redskins fan next door giving me a hard time yesterday. While they are good guys & it was all in jest, it still zings. I mean we are in the same spot as their teams now, at home, & they will get better draft choices.

Re: I think it hurts even more today
It stills burns me in the same way - we had it in our hands and all we needed was a mediocre offense to pull it off, but we got a piss-poor offensive perfomance instead.
But I'm consoling myself with the fact that the Chargers DID lose. They are the #1 seed, 14-2 record, playing at home after a bye. And they lost. So that takes a lot of the focus off the #2 seed (us) having lost at home after a bye. At least we weren't the only home team to lose last weekend.
Next season seems very, very far away. I'll have to take the offseason in little steps - the combine, free agency, the draft, the minicamps, finally training camp. The problem with football is that the season is too short, the offseason too long, and when the season is going on, we make it shorter for ourselves by starting to long for the next game immediately after the current one. :grbac:

Re: I think it hurts even more today
I agree Steve. That was the first thing I thought of too when the Pats won. You don't get too many opportunities to host a championship game, and we sure did blow it in a big way. I did get some consolation that the much ballyhooed Chargers, who big media had already annointed Super Bowl champs, lost as well. I guess misery loves company, and I didn't want to be the only home team to lose this weekend.

Spilled milk, etc.
Coulda would shoulda. We all know that we had the better team, of course that always assumes the better team shows up and plays like it. We didn't, it sucks, but I've pretty much moved on.
I'll say one thing - next year when the Dolts show up, I don't want to hear any of this "old Colts" bullshit. I want that game to be 100% Ravens, all the time.

Re: I think it hurts even more today
I agree CY, it's over, let it go & it's takes alot to say that, but I have. We have a team that has won a SB & will win 1 hopefully next year. What do they have that makes you jealous the last 23 years? Our rivals are Pissburgh, Clowns & the Bungles. We can have 1 with Indy, but because we play them almost every year & don't like them on the field, not because they left. That has no bearing on the game & shouldn't matter now, especially after all the crap last week & what that got us.

In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Re: I think it hurts even more today
T, you have a right to that opinion, but no matter how pissed we all are that if in the HOF our players & history is listed under "Indianapolis Colts", the league is not going to do anything about it. It makes me mad too, but the NFL isn't going to change anything just to appease us fans in Baltimore. We already know they don't care about us & didn't want the Ravens here. We have all the good here & they hopefully will continue to have nothing there. Hate & anger get you nothing or nowhere. We have to remember the history & all the good of the Baltimore Colts, & move forward with the current team we have had for 11 years, the Baltimore Ravens.
The alternative would be, if you (not meaning you, meaning anyone who feels this way) want to be mad at the NFL, to not watch any games, not support any team, including the Ravens since they are a member of the NFL, & forget about football.
& before anyone gets mad at me & make comments that I am young or don't care, that's not true. I was raised on the Baltimore Colts & was 17 when they left. I couldn't go to school the day they moved, & yes I cried with my Father. So no one tell me I don't care what happened.
