RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
Tough opening week for Michael Steele as RNC Chair and it was all his own doing:
1. STEELE: "the government doesn't create jobs. Let's get this notion out of our heads that the government create jobs. Not in the history of mankind has the government ever created a job".
huh?
2. STEELE: But you've got to look at the entire package. You've got to look at what's going to create sustainable jobs. What this administration is talking about is making work. It is creating work.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But that's a job.
STEELE: No, it's not a job. A job is something that -- that a business owner creates. It's going to be long term. What he's creating...
say what???
3. Michael S. Steele, the newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, arranged for his 2006 Senate campaign to pay a defunct company run by his sister for services that were never performed, his finance chairman from that campaign has told federal prosecutors.
ooops. Yeah, maybe they should nix the female and the minority thing and keep whitey in charge.

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
Once again you show how dumb you really are galen,,,Exactly how does the government create jobs????????? Business creates sustainable jobs, and consumers create sustainable jobs by buying the products that the business makes. If you want a stimulus that works , you put more money into the consumers pocket by taking the governments hand out of it...... consumer activity is 2/3 of the economy,,, even an idiot like you knows that,,,, A government created "job" like the 600,000 new federal employees in the new "stimulus" is really a drain on the economy... you democrats/socialist are going to ruin this country,,, you cannot throw money at a problem, it didn't fix the schools and it won't fix the economy

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
I love this stuff...really. I mean c'mon. Rant all you want but at least make a point.
I guess the following are not real jobs? Military, education, police, fire, road crews, national parks, etc, etc. etc.
Riiiight....except the 500,000 that are being lost each month because no one is buying any products but don't let that get in the way of your talking points.
Worked really well the past 8 years. ooops. including the rebates checks we received last year but then again what does reality know???

Galen is desperate to get Obama's gaffes off the front page.
So he rehashes PMSNBC's headlines, clinging to the hope it will stick.
.... and it doesnt.

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
Galen, I see you are slow so let me try and break this down for you
If I work for the gov't and make 100k per yer
At 25% tax rate I pay 25 k
Now who do you suppose pays the other 75k
I will give you a hint,
Its not the gov't and its not the chinese
Still don't get it???????
Its the business that makes and sells product and the employees they hire
Now for Galen who is super dumb I will make it even simpler
If everyone worked for the gov't we would be 75% in the hole every year
Thats why the soviet union broke up
Once again Galen , you moron, Read your recent history
Reagan cut taxes to get us out of the carter recession and it provided the largest boom in economic growth ever
To get the consumer to spend you have to take the gov't out of the consumers pocket
If you didn't understand that galen I don't know how much more simple it can get
Now on to your other point about race from your steele post
you and the other blacks across the country are the real racists, if you would stop bringing up the subject it would go away. There is a black man in the white house,,,, racism is only a small part of the equation now. When so called minorities stop asking for handouts and have to earn everything the get like everyone else , then there will be true equality. You cannot say that you are being held back by the color of your skin anymore, now that obama is the president there are no more excuses

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
Taking any argument to an illogical and absurd extreme doesn't negate the original argument that the govt. creates jobs where money is earned and spent supporting business in the private sector. For excample, if my teacher friend doesn't get furloughed and keeps earning money she then can go out to any local restaurant, mall, jiffy lube etc and spend her money. Pretty interesting huh? Same goes for every other government employee.
subtley and nuance - its good for the brain.
well put...another strong statement that further innoculates you from looking like a member of the rigid right....not.
here's a little hint... just because I support a black president and criticize the extreme right because they typically are a small pool of homogenous, god fearing, minority minimizing group of folk that encourage divisiveness doesn't mean I am black myself. I know that is hard for you to understand because it doesn't fit into one of your narrow-minded and compartmentalized ways of seeing the world. That is why you are conservative and I am not.
Welcome to this side of the board, you will fit in well.

Lot H,
I know you're new to this side, but we really do try to limit the name calling.
Galen and I do not agree on much, but it never resorts to name calling.
Lets keep it respectful!

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
Galen, please tell me about all fo the Teachers, Firemen, Police Officers that are employed by the federal government.
Also the goverment funds projects(i.e. work) for people that have JOBS in the private sector. that is what you are referring to with Road Crews. The gov't is providing WORK, not JOBS.

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
First of all the argument was that government either creates or does not create jobs...either federal or state or local.
If you want to frame it has "work" and not jobs that is fine. I am by no means an economic scholar nor do I want be one but we can all agree that economics is fundamentally the movement of money. The better money moves the better the economy will be.
Government jobs move money and stimulate the economy. In my opinion, it is more reliable than tax cuts and will do more to support this flailing economy.
For example, I am self-employed. After Katrina I was contracted by the government to provide services. A "job" was created for me and 100's of others like me.
I was paid and given a per diem. In addition, I was given a rental car annd a suite to stay in. All in all, my job infused close to $5000 a week through me into the economy of New Orleans. The only people on New Orleans at this time were relief workers from construction to security to support services. The economy woul dhave competely tanked if it wasn't for the government sponsored relief workers who had these "jobs".
We rented rooms at a hotel, rented cars from local agencies, flew into the airport to get there and home, ate a restaurants and bought thngs we needed from local stores.
We did all of this WHILE, in my case, provided support for people returning to their homes for the first time in months ---if there was home.
That is about the best way to explain where I am coming from with the creation of government jobs. It moves money WHILE providing a necessary service that should support private sector businesses and create future momentum.
The idea that "Lot H" was saying is missing the point completely especially when it comes to stimulus. It is an easy argument that on the surface seems to make sense but when one looks differently at it...deeper into it...one sees that it in fact either saves jobs or creates additional jobs....which is all in the same. People have money and will move their money.

Re: RNC wishing it had picked whitey again...
First let me say I am sorry for name calling, now let me figure something out
this is block copied from your post
here's a little hint... just because I support a black president and criticize the extreme right because they typically are a small pool of homogenous, god fearing, minority minimizing group of folk that encourage divisiveness doesn't mean I am black myself. HUH?????????
you have a picture of a black man next to your name, are you false advertising lol
long term jobs are created by business, borrowed money from the gov't does not create long term jobs, just short term stimulus that dries up when the money is gone, throwing money at it now without fixing the root of the problem is going to cost much more later.
I am conservative because I believe the people can spend their money better than the government can,,, That is why I am conservative and you are not, you believe that someone else can spend my money better than me so you support redistribution of wealth at the point of a gun (and if you don't believe that try not paying taxes and see what happens)
