I'm not sure how much it was his choice to get Favre and let go Pennington. That really back-fired on them.M&T Bank Stadium - Section 513

Re: More people getting canned...
Hey Raven fans, any speculation if Brian Billick will coach next year and where? I think he and Mike Nolan will end up in Detroit.

Why would Brian want to return to the sidelines to take a pay cut from his current $5 million from the Ravens plus whatever additional $$$ he gets from broadcasting? In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Tom Cable got the Raiders to win a couple games and play spoiler to Tampa Bay. They should give him at least a full year to see if he can bring that team around.

Re: More people getting canned...
I am in the minority with my opinion, but I don't see Brian Billick returning to coaching, ever. He is still due $10 million from the Ravens, and he is doing a wonderful job on the NFL network and Fox. His true talents are in the media. He is a Super Bowl winning coach with a winning record. His legacy is set here in Baltimore, much like Bill Cowher's is in Pittsburgh. I would be very surprised if either of them ever return to coaching.

Re: More people getting canned...
The trouble is, with any coaching vacancies, any candidates will be walking into a disaster area (the exception being with a vacancy opening because of retirement). I don't know why any previously successful head coach would want that situation. If I was a coordinator, or Special Teams coach, then that's different.
In the case of Cowher, he left because he was ready to retire, and he was very successful during his tenure. I can't see him wanting to come back to any team with lots of problems. (Although there are reports that even though he turned down Cleveland flat, he's willing to talk to the Jets).
Billick's case is a bit different. While he did have success, he was terminated abruptly. So after the Ravens' are done paying him in 2 years, he may want to come back just to have something to prove. I can see him doing that, especially considering his ego.

Re: More people getting canned...
I think Billick wants to coach again but if he sits out the string of Bisciotti's checks he might find he prefers the softer grind of TV. But right now I think he wants to compete. Just a guess.
It is possible he could reach a settlement with Bisciotti that gets him half of the money to terminate the contract early and sign on elsewhere. I could see him with Shack and Nolan in Detroit. He would probably make them a 5-6 win team right out of the gate. Maybe more if they have some real talent just not showing itself. He needs a good OC and game manager.

Just as an aside, I poked around on some other team boards @ Scout to survey the carnage.

Re: More people getting canned...
I thought Billick had some kind of clause where if he was let go with the three years left, the Ravens only owed him for the next season (which is this season). So he got the $5mil this year, but he's not getting anything else.
I swear I heard/read that somewhere when he was fired.O's, Stroh's and Nappy Ho's
