With the recent run on safeties in Canton recently, I don't see Weddle making it. But, in my mind, he's right on the cusp.
Despite his marked decline in physical tools (comes with age, unfortunately), I'm thankful for what Eric did while he was here, including the intangibles he brought to the team. I wish him well. And here's hoping he continues letting that beautiful beard grow wild and free! =P

I’ve never considered Weddle even a fringe HOF. He was good not great.

No way Weddle is a HOF guy.
I don't even know if I'd put him in the Hall of Very Good...just Hall of Good.
Good career.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.
