Re: Chris Simms Released
Never amounted to much after the spleen injury.
Not sure he would improve our chances at success this season.

Re: Chris Simms Released
I love the idea of picking him up. I thought he was starting to look good at TB before the spleen injury, and it seemed like Gruden never gave him a chance after that.
He is still young, would probably sign for cheap, and is probably better than any other QB on our roster at the moment(I think Flacco will be better but he is not there yet).- Section 133 for eternity!

Re: Chris Simms Released
we've saved a spot for a QB on the roster, if Boller is done, get him...

Re: Chris Simms Released
I think he's a solid backup that might even be able to compete for a starting job somewhere. Bucs haven't given him a chance anywhere. I'd love to get hold of him, particularly if we need to IR Boller.

Re: Chris Simms Released
If Boller and/or Smith is IR'd as I expect, watch the Ravens go all out for Simms over the next couple days. Before his injury, he was playing pretty decently. There are no long-term efects from a having splendectomy (my wife had one decades ago with no consequences). Simms has more upside than Culpepper, he's somewhat experienced, and he's a better passer than Troy Smith -- significantly.
A no-brainer. But we'll be in competition with a few other clubs. In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

Re: Chris Simms Released
Well at this moment our backup QB is Mark Clayton, so we better get someone. And don't think it will be a Pro-Bowl caliber QB. We are in damage control, not a trip to the Super Bowl...

Re: Chris Simms Released
I would say yes, since he will likely be cheap.

Re: Chris Simms Released
T, what indication do you have that Smith would be IR'd? Boller I'm expecting, but Smith has to be recovered at least by week 2 wouldn't you think?
Simms wouldn't be a good fit unless we are worried about the #2 or #1 spot. If Troy Smith is coming back soon then we don't need Simms and he wouldn't come here as a #3.

Re: Chris Simms Released
Simms has always been a favorite of mine. He's no worst then anybody we have. The Ravens should really give him a look.
