What's In A Nickname: Old Topic And Still No Consensus
Looking for your help....it's a subject that has been discussed often and there's never been a consensus pick. What is the right nickname for the Ravens defense? After all this time they are deserving of something but what.

I really like "Organized Chaos." I think Bart Scott came up with that one...?

2000 D was better and didn't have a nickname, this is great but not as great, no gimmick needed.

"Tenacious D"(just like the movie name) or "Terminal D" ....I can deal with "Purple Pain"

"Organized Chaos" is okay but kind of long, "Purple Pain" is alright too.

The problem is you just can't force these things. One day somebody will come up with something and everybody will like it and start using it.
Examples of just happening.
The "HEEEEEEEAP" yell just happened and as an extension we also now have "REEEEEEEEED."
Example of attempted forced one.
That idiotic "GO, RAVE, GO!" they copied from the Packers.
They don't mean shit if they don't happen naturally.

Precisely, you look at some of the old D's with the nicknames, I believe the Purple Eaters and the Killer B's etc. were named after the fact, not mid-season when there's still time for said unit to completely lay an egg when it counts and completely leave the fans with egg on their faces.

I coined the Purple Pain name during our Superbowl season back on the old Ravensnest Board, but I also like the Darkside Defense as well.
Maybe I'll create a sign and get it shown on CBS Sunday...That might spark the talking heads in the media to give our defense an official title...

Re: What's In A Nickname: Old Topic And Still No Consensus
Since we have the best Redzone defense...how about the "DeadZone D!"
Or as stated in another article....BALTIMORE'S ELITE GAURD, since teams "beg" for points against us, otherwise known as the BEG D!
