    Re: Obama and the Media

    From the all powerful Wikipedia.org...

The ordinary word in English is "Muslim", pronounced /'mʊs.lɪm/ or /'mʌz.ləm/. The word is pronounced /'mʊslɪm/ in Arabic. It is sometimes spelt "Moslem", which some regard as offensive.[3]

I would imagine that offensiveness was desired.

Good piece of info ... and further proves my point about T.

    Re: Obama and the Media

If you vote for Paul or the Libertarian or Constitution Party, it would be a meaningless protest vote. Even though liberal Maryland voters would most likely follow the other sheep to vote for Obama, lightning does occasionally strike. Remember that Sauerbray lost at the 11th hour when Baltimore headstones somehow pulled the levers. And Ehrlich did win, just 5 years ago.
Ted, if the Democrat is close to losing MD he is getting swamped in PA, OH, FL, MI, etc and taking an electoral beating like Mondale took in 1984.

Yes, Sauerbray almost won and Ehrlich did, and against the candidates they beat in those battleground states they would win in landslides. There are only 2-3 states that will stay Democrat while MD goes Republican.

Besides, Obama can't win. There are more shoes that will drop. This guy has more baggage then a diva on 1 year world tour.

I am sorry that McCain will probably win because I think we are coming up on a tough few years economically and it would be nice if big government and the left got the blame they so richly deserve. McCain and Bush masquerading as conservatives hasn't and isn't helping. And I won't vote for another phony conservative.

    "Hate-filled statement"

Read what I wrote before spewing off next time. What's ridiculous is your popping off with a personal attack after you had been whining that this forum should be brought into use for the election year. Fundamental to 24x7's success has been that we engage in debate of points of view, without attacking other board members. Yet somehow, Houston, you must feel that such rules don't apply to you. It's personal attacks which destroyed the politics forum at YBR, and I can see the same thing happening here if not nipped in the bud.

Two things, then you should issue me an apology for fucking rudeness:

    (1) I have no idea what political correctness is with spelling foreign names and I frankly don't care. When I went to school, I learned that Rangoon was the capital of Burma, Peking is in China, and that the followers of Mohammed are called Moslems. When did PC take over this board?

"and some regard as offensive" BFD. Who are the "some" -- Hollywood whackos? Liberal profs? This is ridiculous!!!!!

    (2) I'm still scratching my head over the "rediculous and hate-filled statement". (btw: if you are going to attack me over the spelling of Moslem, please brush up on the spelling of "ridiculous".) You want to poo-poo my concern about falling under Moslem rule, go ahead. It's the Moslems that attacked our Marines in Lebanon, soldiers in Saudi Arabia, sailors on the Cole, and innocent civilans in the World Trade Center and Pentagon. If you (and the lefty media) want to put your heads in the sand to call these people something other than Moslems, that's your problem. But is is a fact that they were Moslems, and you bet your sweet bippy that they want to ultimately rule this country and make us bow down to Mohammend (or is it Muhammet? -- who cares?) facing Mecca. If you think that soft-on-defense Democrats will provide the kind of leadership to defend us against these fanatics, go ahead and pull the lever. I don't. We are at war, and I would rather have a warrior at the helm.

I'm in agreement with you, Greg (except, of course, for the last statement, since I would be so hosed financially if a socialist-Democrat were win). The Bushies and the GOP had the potential for a decade or mores of fiscally conservative rule, but blew it on an unecessary foreign adventure (sticking our noses in the Middle East where they don't belong), Katrina excesses, climbing in bed with Teddy Kenedy on "No Child Left Behind", failing to exercise the Constitutional right to veto spending bills, and general fiscal irresponsibility.

But the only other person who would become President if it's nor McCain would be Obama-rama -- and that's unpalatable.
In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

To distort facts surrounding anyone to fit a narrow view of Islam doesnt do anyone any good, yet you seem to do so in spades and under the banner that Obama has some amazing ability, because he only spent two years in a madras, that he will shit-can the Constitution, make us a radical Islamic state and doing so all without the Congress, then yes, you are VERY hate filled -- not an attack, just observation based on YOUR words. Obama spent 10 years in a Christian school -- so by your definition we're in for another round of the Crusades as well. If me pointing out your (one) incorrect use of the word muslim and (two) your distorted facts about Obama then twisting those incorrect facts to suggest we're going to ran by a radical muslim is somehow making a personal attack, then I suppose I am guilty. Ignorance is just as every bit hate-filled as knowingly spreading false facts.

Dont hold your breath. We are debating and nothing you have said has been seen as personal attack on myself. If you cant stand the heat ....

There is nothing PC about using correct language. Might I suggest two books -- "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" and "When I was a Kid, This Was a Free Country" by G. Gordon Liddy. Both have excellent diatribes about use of the correct words in all situations and how political correctness is killing us.

See above rant. Who exactly is "these people"? Do you refer to African Americans as "these people" too? Is Obama "these people"? If so, which of "these people" is he exactly?

You're correct -- the Democrats for years have been soft on defense. But where does all that shit you've said translate into Obama being the second coming of Muhammad? Because he spent 3 pants-shitting years in a Madras against his will?

If there is to be any apology, it should be to me for having to actually defend this douche of a poltician. Is it any wonder why people loathe the GOP these days? It's devoid of fact people like you, who use hate and fear instead of logic and reason, that have caused people to distrust a political party I have loved since I was 21.

Wow... didn't know 24x7 had a political forum. Double-wow...I find myself sympathetic to Houston's side of the argument here....at least in your ability to demonstrate tolerance and not stand for ignorance associated in a comment that if Obama is elected this country will be under "Moslem rule".

Tip of the Day: Don't believe chainmail emails ... really? Obama is a plant for radical islamists and if elected this country will face towards Mecca?
