Ravens To Pursue Leftwich?
This apparently was mentioned on a pregame show according to a friend of mine. (Maybe someone can elablorate which show or if they heard the same). Apparently, it was mentioned to look for the Ravens to trade for Leftwich in the offseason to QB behind McNair.
Taking for granted that this is a possibility, would you make this trade?
I would for these reasons:
1. Boller's future is not here. There is just no way Boller could ever start for the Ravens in the future. Boller future is as someone else's starter.
2. Leftwich needs that same change of scenery.
3. Leftwich could learn much playing behind McNair. Look at how Harrington took a backup job and is now starting. I think Leftwich would learn much playng behind McNair and being groomed to start for us.
Thoughts? (Had more reasons, but the misses is calling me). It's a new season! It's a new day!

Re: Ravens To Pursue Leftwich?
Good god no. We would pay way too high a price for a QB who honestly hasn't shown to be all that good. Let's keep Boller

No thanks. I'd rather draft another QB or look in free agency somewhere.

Leftwich is a statue, and he can't stay healthy. Pass.

No way.
I say draft Troy Smith out of OSU."This year, our attitude when we’re on the field is we’re attacking, we want to put points on the board and then let our defense pin their ears back and have at it."

Re: Ravens To Pursue Leftwich?
On NFL Network, during the draft segment last Saturday, they talked about Troy Smith as a potential 3rd rounder. I am not well versed on college ball, but based on that info, wouldn't taking Troy Smith with the 1st pick be a stretch?
As for Leftwich, I am still waiting to talk to my friend to hear what was specifically said. I do agree that a young drafted QB would be a better option to groom behind McNair, but you guys would not at least be curious? It's a new season! It's a new day!

Re: Ravens To Pursue Leftwich?
I would keep Boller for sure, and not just because I think Leftwich is bad. I think Boller could help us win some football games as a backup. The faith the coaches had in him to immediately call long pass plays right off the bench is something rare in a backup QB. It would be terriffic if we could keep him another 2-3 years as a backup, and I don't think that precludes us from drafting a rookie in the 2007 or 2008 draft. Boller could have an attack of Volekitis, but something tells me he has a level head about his future as a backup.

Re: Ravens To Pursue Leftwich?
Not happening, the main reason being is because he is 5'11 with a combine type measurement, regardlesss what the media guide or anything else says.
Height at the QB position is a big factor when it comes to drafting QB's,and I think the only starting QB in the NFL to be 6'0 or under is Brees.
He is a 2nd or 3rd rounder as shocking as that might seem to some college fans, and I heard one broadcaster compare him to Seneca Wallace this past weekend.
