Some observations:
1. As the season has moved along, Suggs is now playing every down. He rested some due to the injury and the heat of the first few games. As he has played more, his production has dropped thru the floor. He has not had a sack since week 3 vs. the Browns, and since has registered just 2 (!) hurries. Very un-Suggs like. I have to believe he would benefit from taking off 8 to 10 plays a game (cheers from the Cody fans).
2. Kelly Gregg continues to be our most productive lineman. His 45 tackles are a superb number for a DT. That total currently leads all NFL DT's by 8! He is 4th among all DL's in tackles. Unlike Terrell, as his play time has increased, so has his productivity. If he doesn't make the Pro Bowl, it will be a crime.
3. Ngata continues his fine rookie season. He had his 1st PD of the year go for an INT vs. Tennessee. It's been suggested that Ngata may be benefitting from the other players around him on running downs, but I don't buy it. The Ravens have been more effective vs. both the pass and run with him in there. He's getting some decent pocket collapsing push on passing plays, and he and Kelly Gregg are forcing runs outside whenever they are in. I need to come up with a stat on how effective other teams are at running outside, but I have a sense the Ravens LB and secondary speed have eaten those runs alive.
4. It is not some unfathomable statistic that Bannan, Franklin, and Edwards are giving up so mny yards per pass play. Those guys simply are not getting pressure and it has shown up in some big plays. Bannan and Franklin have been serviceable backups (especially vs. the run, as the numbers indicate), but Edwards is through. Barring multiple injuries or the last game of the season having no playoff implications, I do not think he will play another game in a Ravens uniform. If the Ravens want to make a project of him, the first thing he needs to work on during the off season is his first step. He is unbelievably slow off the snap. I've got the same sick feeling watching a horse I bet on stay in the gate an extra half second.
5. Another bone for the Cody crew. We really are not getting any decent pass rush using either Edwards or Bannan at DE. Kelly Gregg is being overworked (though he has not shown reduced productivity to date), as is Suggs, and I would love to see us use Cody at DE with Bannan's responsibilities shifted inside.

I am still looking for any advice on other things to count. Please send me a message if you would like a copy of the spreadsheet. I am also interested in any other tools out there that folks may be using for analysis.
