I don't like the idea of having a highly paid QB AND 1st round investment on the roster at the same time. Just way too much else that you can use the 1st rounder on for your roster. I think that when you're ready to pull the trigger on the rookie QB, you need to be in a position where you can clear your books of the old QB, no position battles when the stakes are that high. It sounds to me like we're pretty locked into Flacco for another year or two, so I'd start seriously thinking about drafting his replacement after next year. We're just way too locked into him, as half of the cap hits are bonus prorate anyways.

Agreed. But if the FO believes he can be our franchise QB for the next decade, you still take him and worry about the coaching staff later.
