The Pats are not only having a great season this year but they have two (2) first round picks in the next draft.

So they may only get better.

They've only got one first rounder, they had their first round pick taken away as a result of the spygate saga.

Would be a first round pick if they made the playoffs (they have clinched) or a 2nd and 3rd if they didn't.

Talent wise it'll help them, salary cap wise it'll be interesting to see how they handle it. It's becoming more and more apparent that you can't and in many cases don't want to trade for the #1 or #2 picks, so they'd be stuck with a massive contract for a rookie that would nicely mess around with their contract structure on their roster, particularly with Moss, Stallworth and Asante Samuel all hitting free agency in March.

That is correct, but the pick they got to keep was the one they got from the 49ers, which looks like it will end up being a top five pick. :grbac:

But you're also right about the salary cap implications. It's almost not worth it anymore to get the first or second overall pick.
