We won by having one unit that was very good all year, and having another unit get hot and play over its head in January.

That is literally exactly what I'm advocating, and what the Ravens are striving for. It's what the Falcons did last year, and the Broncos did the year before that. The Patriots last year, and the Panthers the year before that, were great on both sides of the ball (ironically enough, considering this board's proclivities, they were great on both sides of the ball despite extremely ordinary WR corps), and that's all well and good, but its obviously very difficult to create/sustain.

In 2012 the offense was top 10 in pts scored and the defense was 13 in pts allowed.

    That seems...balanced...

Fair enough, my memory was off. I'm wrong, like, a lot. There's more than one way to win, the one I'm discussing just seems to be the one that's been working a lot lately, and is honestly the most fun to watch imo.

The offense certainly went to another level when the playoffs arrived, though.

The offense was 16th in ypg and the defense was 17th in ypg.

    Again...balanced.

    Weird.

"We lost Senior!" ignoring the fact that he was, by any measure, a thoroughly ordinary WR last year, as much as I love the man.

"We didn't add anyone!" ignoring the fact that Woodhead was an absolute beast last time he played, ACL injuries don't really matter anymore, and he doesn't have any of the wear and tear that tends to make backs fall off at his age.

Ignoring the fact that we have young, promising players who could and should improve at every level of the offense.

Ignoring the fact that our QB was visibly bothered by his recovering ACL all year last year, which will now be a year further in the rear view mirror.

It would take a LOT to go right for this to be a good unit, which I don't expect at all, but it would take just as going wrong for it to be any worse than last year.
    Woodhead lol stop it

Don't blame you with how the Ravens played tbh but my man was a monster
