really the amount of money and guarantees is going to be the question. if he is willing to take a modest deal that is really limited risk and you gotta take a shot. And I'm honest I don't mean peanuts IE the veteran minimum I just mean three to five million a year Max limited guarantees maybe incentives
Its not the initial injury that concerns us. Its him re-inuring it when he rehabs, something he's done once (rumored twice) now.

Some similarities in age between Mangold and Birk.
Mangold has been in the league for 10 years and had ankle issues at the end of last season.
Birk played for Minnesota for 10 years, and had sports hernia and hip surgery in the middle-end of that time. He then played for the Ravens from '09-'12.

good question, I have no idea where we are cap wise right now, and I know the giants threw something out there to Nick but i think that's why he hasn't signed there yet because the money isn't where he wants it to be. He's been injured the last 2-3 seasons not many teams are going to pay him what he thinks he might fetch.

If we can get Mangold, even at 80%, for another 1-2 years...that's ideal.

    Cut Watson. Cut Arrington.

There are ways to make cap room without going deep-6.

THIS. my friend who is a jets fan keeps telling me he is surprised mangold has not signed yet.
he thinks nick is asking for too much money also.
btw the "injury history" talk he says is just uninformed/lazy fans and he is injury prone.
basically mangold thinks he is a top 5 center and wants to be paid like that when in reality he is 5-15 center.

true true...if Nick is healthy, really truly healthy? They should not let him leave.
