NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/21/nfl-drops-probable-from-injury-report-redefines-questionable-and-doubtful/
Now, “questionable” simply means that “it is uncertain as to whether the player will play in the game,” and “doubtful” means that “it is unlikely the player will participate.”
Harbs is gonna love this. Good luck to all fantasy players LOL

Tom Brady (hand) is already questionable for Week 5.

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
Wonder what they're going to call Perriman on the injury report?
(a) Not at all probable.
(b) Questionable that he sets foot on a football field for the foreseeable future.
(c) Doubtful he catches a pass until Hell freezes over.
(d) OUT!
(e) all of the above.
... Bc

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
I like these changes. Players listed as probable always seemed to play so what's the point of having that designation? The other 2 have new simpler definitions. I have a feeling this was a fantasy football change.

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
Yep. By my quick-and-dirty accounting, of the 50 probable designations by the Ravens last year, only 2 times did the player not play (Terrence Brooks in wk 8 and Tray Walker in wk 10).
Brady was on the injury report 3 times last year (1 questionable and 2 probables) and played in all 3 games. The year before (2014), he was questionable in wk 6 and then, to your point, probable every game for the rest of the year and played in them all.

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
I like it as well. Probable had become "guaranteed".
New definitions shouldn't be that complicated unless teams like the Patriots designate everyone as questionable the same way they used probable. If they do they should be advised not to do so.
Questionable = game time decision.
Doubtful = will not play barring a miracle
Easy.

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
this doesnt clear it up at all if im following this right.
they still have to report any player with an injury (we got dinged for that a few years ago), so now a player that was "probable" is actually going to be listed by the harsher "questionable".
this is going to make it more difficult for fantasy players not easier. They say the point of it was to not have healthy players on it, but I dont think they changed that part of requiring all players, whether minor or significant needing to be listed on it. This makes it much more difficult to get a feeling of how significant an injury is. Its not so much "dropping" probable as combining it with Questionable.Last edited by JAB1985; 08-22-2016 at 09:33 AM.

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
Why does this seem to be another stupid not well thought out change by the NFL to me?
It's like the change in the kick off rule.
Let's change something to make it safer while in effect we've made it less safe because the teams will now alter how they kick the ball.
In this case let's change the rule and reporting of injuries so now any player that has a paper cut will have the same status as a guy coming off a high ankle sprain that hasn't played in the past 2 weeks. Will Die A Ravens Fan!!

Re: NFL drops “probable” from injury report, redefines “questionable” and “doubtful”
Does anybody know how the league enforces this?
I was under the impression that the old categories were 0% chance of playing, 25%, 50%, 75%. You could then theoretically measure the teams percentage of 'doubtfuls' that actually played, for example.
But as far as I know, the only discipline happens when a player not listed on the injury report ends up not playing, or when they came down on BB for putting everybody but The Deflator on the injury report."Chin up, chest out."
