Re: 2017 Draft Thread -- because we have an unhealthy obsession
Moar...
Top performances that caught the eye in Week 7
Nebraska CB Chris Jones was targeted six times, allowing only one catch for four yards and getting his hands on three (interception, two passes defensed)
Oklahoma WR Dede Westbrook put together his second-straight three-touchdown game, finishing with 184 yards on his nine catches.
Northwestern edge rusher Ifeadi Odenigbo had two sacks and six hurries on only 34 rushes"The Ravens are not taking Jimmy Smith at 26!" -- Me, the day before the 2011 Draft

Re: 2017 Draft Thread -- because we have an unhealthy obsession
Good tidbits, though I'd pump the brakes on any Michigan defensive evaluations. They haven't played anything remotely resembling a good Power 5 Offense.
Always kind of liked Westbrook better than Shepard. Seems much quicker and more slippery.Last edited by Mizerooskie; 10-20-2016 at 10:46 AM.

Re: 2017 Draft Thread -- because we have an unhealthy obsession
More more PFF, they're updated top 32
Plenty of edge/CB/WR talent in there. Here's a few excerpts from guys that have been discussed on here that look to be in the Ravens' range:
12. Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
Williams has rebounded nicely after missing all but 12 snaps a year ago, stepping right back in as the go-to guy for QB Deshaun Watson. He and Watson has a good feel for the vertical route tree, working go route and back-shoulder throws off of it and it’s Williams’ downfield body control that makes it work. He has all of the skills to be the top receiver in the class.15. Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
After missing the first three games of the season, Lewis has returned to his dominant form as he’s only surrendered three catches on 10 targets for seven yards. He lacks the height of other top cornerbacks in the class, but his aggressiveness and ability to mirror in man coverage should not be overlooked. Lewis is also a sound tackler and good run defender.
16. Jabrill Peppers, S/LB, Michigan
Forget the position debate, Peppers brings versatility to the defense with his ability to play the run, cover, and rush the passer. He’s not a great fit for covering slot receivers, but he can hold his own against tight ends, so he at least fits the mold of nickel linebacker at the next level. He’s flashed his impressive athleticism on offense and special teams and his true value will be a hot topic come draft season.
17. Tim Williams, Edge, Alabama
Williams hasn’t slowed down as a pass rusher as he now has four sacks, six QB hits, and 19 hurries on 127 rushes after picking up 11/8/33 on 147 rushes last season. His burst and power off the edge make him one of the best pass-rushers in the class, but he’s played only 45 snaps against the run this year and 92 over the last three seasons so his three-down value remains a question mark.
I think Mike Williams is right where he should be. Once he eliminates some drops (which are likely the result of a year without football), I think he climbs up towards the top 5.
Completely agree on their evaluation of Watson, and the issues they mention are highly influenced by inconsistent mechanics (speculation is that the QB "guru" he worked with over the summer screwed them up) and uncharacteristic mental mistakes (the type he wasn't making as a true freshman). Both a very correctable. I'm just rooting for him to be drafted into a good situation at this point (New Orleans, please). San Francisco and Cleveland are somewhat nightmare scenarios.

IMO, there are two generational talents in the draft...... Myles Garret and Leonard Fournette

2017 Draft Thread -- because we have an unhealthy obsession
Hooker is more of a traditional deep coverage safety. I like his hands. Nice speed too. However, he can't do all of the things that Peppers is capable of. Peppers is arguably the best player in college football right now.
The Ravens prob won't be picking high enough to take him though. Hooker would be an excellent 2nd round pick if he makes it that far. I like Marshon Lattimore too.
