Bring Back Kruger?
I have been thinking about this the last week. So the browns have a 99% chance of cutting him in the offseason. He should have NEVER gotten that contract, but that doesn't mean he isn't a solid pass rusher.
The browns have woefully misused the guy the last 3 years. He is a pass rush specialist and they have him routinely dropping into coverage. IMO he has gotten stronger and is a better pass rusher than he was here. Last year he racked up 11 sacks while being used poorly.
I would like to entertain the idea of bringing him back for maybe 3yr/$15M and just let him rush. He would be a good 4-3 DE or a OLB rush specialist. He is on 29 years old and still has some decent years ahead of him and we all saw how he looks when used right. Suggs is going to have a questionable return, Doom looks like he is breaking down and there is no one else on this roster who can really rush the passer.
I think it would be cheap insurance and if doom and suggs come back strong in 2016, having a 3rd guy to throw in there would really help our 3rd down % and turnover %. Anyone we draft is going to be a project, we need production in 2016. He is not a world beater but would be an upgrade from anything we have and add another dimension to the defense that teams would have to account for.
Thoughts?

Re: Bring Back Krugger?
If he'd come back, I'd do it. He'll be 30 in February, but he'd be nice depth. He knows the guys and a lot of the coaches.
...although hopefully he'll know none of the defensive coaches next year...
He's from Utah, so I could see him going back out west and going to a team like Denver or Arizona or something just to be closer to home. Who knows?
I'd do it though. Bring him back on a 2-yr deal.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

Re: Bring Back Krugger?
if he's cheap enough why not, can't have too many pass rushers

Re: Bring Back Krugger?
Kruger is so bad against the run that he can be a total
Liability . Plus he's not athletic enough to play de.

Re: Bring Back Krugger?
Which is not what he is for. Doom sucks balls against the run yet puts up 10-18 Sacks a year.
His problem this year is, the browns defense has no one to set the edge. They used to which is why Kruger was able to feast on QB's. This year they are asking him to do that, along with dropping into coverage. It is the definition of making him play to his weakness and ignoring his strengths (Something our coaches have the same problem with).
Use him on passing situations and let him force QB's to make mistakes. The same way he was used here when he was producing at a high level.
It's a no brainier to me as long as the financials are right. He's a good football player, just needs to be used correctly to excel.

Re: Bring Back Krugger?
He won't be cheap. Kruger won't get the contract the Browns gave him but a 20 year old pass rusher is going to get paid. Anyone with eyes can see that the dumbass Browns are using him. Even Kruger has been bitching about constantly dropping into coverage. Some team with more cap space is going to pay a lot more than us next year. The way things are going with former Browns watch it be the Patriots.

LOL so true.... I guess I am going off the assumtion that Pees will be fired in the offseason. Someone is going to have to force little johnny's hand since he is incapable of making competent staff choices on his own.

Right player, right price.
Whether or not that'll be Kruger, not likely, but who knows at this point.
He'd be nice depth if he came back fairly cheap.
