Why? He sounds like he's going to be unavailable for an extended amount of time.

maybe our Drs feel more comfortable than theirs? I also dont really care if he cant give us something the next few weeks if he can give us something by the end, which hes a lot closer to being back than Urban is currently, who were clearly debating using our IRDR on, which I think would be a mistake.

Darnell Dockett - DL - Free Agent

    49ers released DT Darnell Dockett.
This is our first shocking cut of the weekend. Dockett was signed to a two-year, $7.5 million contract that included $2 million guaranteed in April. He was supposed to help replace retired DE Justin Smith. Dockett had been operating as a sub-package pass rusher in camp and preseason, but apparently wasn't showing much coming off his 2014 torn ACL. Dockett turned 34 earlier this year.

    Da'Quan Bowers - DL - Free Agent

    Bucs released DT Da'Quan Bowers.
The former second-round pick was re-signed by the Bucs back in July after drawing very little interest as a free agent. He was a colossal disappointment as a 4-3 pass-rushing end, but appeared to find a home as a rotational defensive tackle.

Would Dockett or Bowers be an upgrade over Kap Lew-Moore or Chidi BabyBeluga who are in line for the last spot on our roster? With Jernigan hurt, could a vet presence be helpful? Or do we skew young & get these guys more experience & have them hang around longer than this season. Either Dockett orBowers would be a 1 year deal.

Nope. Bowers has never been good. Dockett is 34 and coming back from an ACL that kept him out all last year. I wouldn't go near either of them

Dockett would do well enough here as a specialist in nickel situations. That would be the only role that I could see for him.
