Perusing the Ravens Roster at start of camp. Tossing out some questions.

Perusing the Roster Just as camp starts. If anyone has any insights to the
    questions, please comment:

Mostly regarding the chances of noted players making our roster. If the player is not noted here, I have assumed for various reasons that there is no chance of making the team (perhaps you have some disagreement here ie: your dark horse).

The following list covers about 2/3rds of the alphabet for players that I think are lurking around the bubble. If the thread works out OK, I will post
    A - I for comment. This is J - Z.

Cassius Vaughn CB UDFA/2010 - a player with experience and numbers looking like he still will be an NFL player for time to come. Does he become a Raven?

DeAngelo Tyson DT - 2012/rd 7 - Is this a contract year for him? Is the field too crowded at DT, or am just not educated and maybe he's a lock.

Brynden Trawick S - UDFA/2013 - can he make it in the NFL as a special teams ace? Will it be in Baltimore?

Aldrick Robinson WR - 2013/rd 6(Wash) - Can speedy WR come off the bubble with Return Specialist skills. RS seems to be a team need, albeit, not a gigantic one (or not, your opinions on who gets the job).

Zach Orr LB - 2013/UDFA - This is a player that has escaped my attention. What is his status.

Robert Myers G - R/rd 5 - If this were any other year, I'd say a 5th rounder is almost a lock to make team. With such a stacked roster, just wondering.

Raashan Melvin CB - 2013/UDFA MIA prac sq - Signed during a time when our DBs were going down like flies though looking like a keeper. Keeper Y/N ?

Steven Means LB - 2013/rd5 TB - A fifth round pick by Tampa, once again I'm light on my knowledge of Ravens backup LBs.

Albert MCclellen LB - 2010/UDFA - not aware of his contract status but is a Ravens vet. and sort of a special teams ace.

Ryan Jensen OL - 2013/rd 6 - What's up with him, does anyone know if he is developed into a keeper or is this year he finds work on another team?

Tramain Jacobs DB - 2014/UDFA - Any comments on chance of sticking around?

Zach Orr was running with the ones while Brown was with the twos. He was the surprise of camp last year and by late OTAs he was with the ones. My guess is it's between Brown and McLellen for the bubble spot.

No way Myers gets cut this year. Find that Sun piece on him. He is Juan's diamond in the rough.

Other than that, hard to dispute, even the tough ones like Tyson. We'll have to wait and see.

Cassius Vaughn is experienced CB depth, he will have to earn the spot by ST but CB gives him a slight edge

DeAngelo Tyson $671,898 cap space, he is still cheap

Brynden Trawick S big Bubble with the safties brought in and Anthony Levine now considered a S again, I think he is squeezed

Aldrick Robinson WR IMO was brought in for return game, injury didn't help, bringing in Nelson hints that Aldrick's bubble is thinner than expected.

Zack Orr beat out Josh Bynes last year, no reason to think he is in trouble this year, his size is smallish (where have we heard that before?)

Rashaan Melvin CBCB played well when he got a chance and is cheap and restricted $585,000

Steven Means LB we liked enough to add him to the PS when John Simon was claimed, then activated him he is battling Zach Thompson, Brennen Beyer, I don't think he makes it to the PS if cut

Albert McClellan is a UnrestrictedFA after this year, and wasn't drafted, he is 29 making $1mil

Ryan Jensen OL no idea, we kept him active as a rookie (and injured) but that was before Urschel who has somked him on the depth chart, Meyers isn't going anywhere, Jensen with less versatility has to pass Jah

Tramain Jacobs we kept over Danny Gorrer, other than that I have no idea

I have been working off of the BaltimoreRavens.com roster, I get the feeling there may be rosters that are more accurate and updated, even if it is just one or two entries of difference. I noticed some names on the recent OTA/Camp thread not in the roster I am using.

Thanks to BlackBeak and RxDoxx. Always seeing good responses from you both on a regular basis for many many threads, past and present. Timing wise, your posts seem to come in fairly near to each other, maybe that is just something I observed as of late. This time, thanks for not letting me have a response-less thread.

EDIT: Almost forgot about Ourlads. I should be using OURLADS.COM for rosters and such. They simply have the best set up for viewing Depth Charts and Rosters by Alpha, Uniform numbers, Position etc. Also, noticed that Tom Nelson was in there just as we began to know about him being here, so very well updated. BTW, I have no vested interest in the site, its just that I know you will like the presentation and wasn't sure if people knew about it. It is the one I like to use the week before games to see how the depth measure up against our guys.

Thanks, just went and looked at Ourlads.com Ravens depth chart
    http://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/BAL

    LCB 25 Jackson, Asa 12/5 25 Greenwood, Chris P/Min

    RCB 22 Smith, Jimmy 11/1 40 Vaughn, Cassius U/Det 38 Melvin, Rashaan P/Mia 41 Levine, Anthony SF12 39 Jacobs, Tramain CF14

    and our returners
PR 15 Campanaro, Michael 14/7 21 Webb, Lardarius NFI
KR 15 Campanaro, Michael 14/7 21 Webb, Lardarius NFI

So roster may be good but depth chart is wacky .... only 2 for LCB, 5 for RCB one of whom (Levine) Ravens are calling as back to Safety, and Webb is only a returner (but they do call him CB on the roster page)

Also viewing alpha/number/position I have to change page there
at http://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/roster.html the Ravens site, just have to click an area on the colored bar to shuffle order to what you want
Heck, you can click on college and arrainge the list alphabetically by college and see we have 4 players from Alabama at the top and scrolling down we have 4 from Virginia (Canty Monroe Shaub Urban) near the bottom
Click on the same area and the order reverses, so you can go from least experienced (24 rookies) to most, click exp and then view most experienced to least (7 players in double digit years), sounded like you didn't know this feature

Thanks, I didnt know about the feature. And clearing up the wacky. This was not meant to be an all-out effort, a bit of a lazy stroll through the roster on my part was all.

    Cool.

I'll tell you where the shuffle really comes in handy for me.
The daily bum wiper prints Ravens rosters alphabetically, which is pretty worthless when watching pre-season games, seeing a play and saying wow, who was #45?
It took me through the next play to read down the list looking.

I copy the numerical order from the Site, and then print my list, so when I'm watching, I can find #45 Brennan Beyer fast on my cheat sheet ... that was why I discovered the order changes, I needed it

Lazy stroll is fine, my interest is now on the bottom of the roster (ths Suggs/Webbs/Yandas are going to be there) ... I like to know what we have on the bench as next man up if a need arises, so I'm watching the Greenwoods, Beyers, Means, of the team ... and if history is any indicator, I will bandwagon someone .... LaQuan, Rainey, Eron .....it just happens :o

Means is a guy Harbs was pumping up during OTAs, but I have read zero about him so far in training camp. I realize it's been only two practices, but other young players are getting some pub.

Have they worn pads yet and had contact?
Means has a skill position that isn't going to be real apparent until under fire.
We can read things into others, cuts, breaks, hands.

I remember as good/hyped as Antwan Barnes was, all that was needed was a slight push from the OT and Barnes flew by the QB, for all his great speed, he couldn't control things for years.
They like Means, signed him to PS and activated him ... his pub will come if he makes plays in the pre-season, if/when he splits a doubleteam, or flattens a RB on the way to a QH

Pads come on tomorrow, so maybe there will be a Means sighting.
