Re: The Most Cursed Sports Cities in America - guess who's #1?
Pittsburgh, which btw is a dump. Forgot who said earlier that its nice, no way. From their highways who have to be bridge like built because of the mountains to how dirty the streets are. To their pathetic excuse for a answer to Fells point or a bar district.
Anyways since were talking about them. They have 3 teams. The Squeelrrs, Pirates and Pens. They have about the same in business also and population. Gonna look up further. They also have close cities of rivalry being surrounded by Ohio to the west of them, NY, Philly heck even Buffalo to the north has 2 teams Bills and Sabres and a much smaller market than us. According to sports insider Baltimore is considered a second tier sports city much like Pitt, and St Louis and KC which are similar to such like Balt and DC are. Gonna look up jarder numbers. Gimme a bit. Ill try and present a better argument.

Were ranked as 20th as far as major markets. Fwiw
Comparing Baltimore to Pitt. They have 4 more fortune 500 companies to draw on, however we have double the secondary or next 500 companies. Our population 622k. Pitt only 305k. Firms we have 42k they have 24k. Retail sales 4.35M to their 3.4M. Our median income is also 2k a year more.
Was hard to compare the markets as I had to dig through useless info just to get anything relevant. Bottom line, even Cleve has 3 teams while Cinnci right down the street has 2. And while Ohio is considered a great state to start a business. And its also considered the safest from Mother Nature it gets really darn cold, alot of snow and they have smaller populations also.
Maybe now that we have a R Governor businesses will come back or start coming here. If we can get rid of the Mayor that might help also. Guess well see. But wouldnt having the Skipjacks or a NBA team to root for in between be awfully nice. Not to mention the Os until they get rid of Angelos will never consistantly produce a winner. Theyre already falling short this year with PA tight wad pockets not getting us pieces that we lost.

"Nothing stops these Baltimore Ravens. Beat them, injure them, shove them to the bottom of the standings, drag them into a hostile environment and mount a big lead, and they just keep trudging forward like nothing fazes them." (Bleacher Report)
