Never is a long time. Five years down the road--five very quiet & uneventful years for the Rice family (one hopes)--things could look very different. Check back then.

    I don't see any way this happens. I'll repeat/agree with HR's post :

Agreed. Americans love a redemption story and if Rice keeps his nose clean, things can change.

Aaron Hernandez will be back with the Patriots before Rice is ever back with the Ravens.

They love him now, by and large. He wouldn't have the high profile jobs on ESPN if the majority of people thought he was a murderer.

Only butt hurt rival fans are still thinking it.

Just because someone is on ESPN doesn't mean that they're well loved. I don't think Heath Evans or Tedy Bruschi have too many fans.

Fact is that there's plenty of fans who hate Ray despite the fact that he's had a Hall of Fame career and has been a model citizen since that night.

And people here in Atlanta, especially the Buckhead area...

First, most people like Ray Lewis. And respect him. He gets a ton of media love and if the public hated him he wouldn't.

Second, he is a target of the social media fools. Not a real measure of public opinion as those are the same morons who are drumming this week that Rice got off because he is rich and an athlete. Never mind he actually followed the rules on his punishment.

Third, for this discussion, the parallels are not parallel. The people who still hate Lewis think he was a murderer and never paid for his crime. Rice not only paid, he admitted wrongdoing and is showing remorse. Not saying Lewis did anything he needs to show remote for but the parallel doesn't hold.

This is why Ray Rice will never play for the Ravens:

The heat the Bears are going to take would pale in comparison to what the Ravens would get if they brought Rice back and he did it again.
