Re: Rice back to Baltimore?
LOL this is so stupid that it's laughable. He will not be a Raven. I do think that some team might give him a ring though.

Given that I wasn't thrilled he was still with the team before the incident (he looks done to me), I don't want him back except maybe to retire.

Re: Rice back to Baltimore?
Imagine the shitstorm if the Ravens brought him back and he got busted again.
I have a better chance of being a Raven than he does."This space for rent" - Roger Goodell

Re: Rice back to Baltimore?
Let's be honest--the real reason RR can never appear on the field in a Ravens jersey is the massively inept way the team (& league office for that matter) handled the situation. They allowed shrieking heads like Keith Ohbullman to portray Rice as a compulsive wife-beater & the NFL as the premier enabler of DV in the frackin' universe, & then cringed as said shrieking heads used it like a club to try & pound the sport out of existence (or at least relevance). All in the name of trying to placate the female not-yet-NFL-fan demographic targeted by the league to put more eyeballs on the screen & make a few more bucks for the owners. What Greedell & the owners never figured out was that no one who's not already a fan who can be swayed by the shrieking heads' arguments was ever going to become a fan, no matter how many pink cleats they parade on the field or breast cancer awareness PSAs they run during commercial breaks.
The Ravens' specific failing was threefold:- Not immediately bending heaven & earth to get & view a copy of the elevator video
- Not realizing that no matter what they might do, a copy of that clip was bound to hit the media sooner or later
- Not understanding that even though Rice told them (according to Oz) pretty much exactly what happened--& even though the vast majority of evidence suggests it was a one-off action mediated by alcohol, stress & dogonlyknows what else--viewers of that clip would conclude Rice was a murderous monster who could never redeem himself & any person or group who supported him as a basically good guy who made a terrible mistake would be treated as an accessory before, during, after & on top of the fact
Does Ray Rice deserve a shot at redemption? He's done pretty much everything that's been asked of him, & Americans by & large believe in redemption.[1] Will he get it? Almost certainly not. The shrieking heads will heap abuse on any team that even brings him in for a workout, along with the league--& there are many running backs on the market with fewer questions about their potential performance & no baggage. Absolutely not in Baltimore, where the Ravens cut ties with Rice as quickly as they did to send the message that "we're as horrified as the rest of you are", & would look like total hypocrites (if not actively supporting violence against women) if he resurfaced here.
-----
[1] Except for the type who proclaim from atop their ubermoral high horses that they would never ever ever do something that horriible & therefore anyone who does has no excuse & should be condemned without mercy. They call to mind that subset of fundamentalist preachers who rail against homosexuality & who then get caught in flagrante delicto--as if declaiming could make it so....If yinz ain't vaxxed & boosted by now, ain't nuffin' I say gonna change yer mind. Just don't drop dead on my lawn.
