Re: Ravens 3rd round pick (90th OV) Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
Agreed.
He is insurance in the (hopefully not likely...but you never know) event that KLM or Urban are hurt again.
I actually think Davis is better than Urban and KLM. When he goes 100%, he's unblock able. He was killing kids at the Senior Bowl. No one could stop him.Disclaimer: The content posted is of my own opinion.

I haven't followed him closely since leaving our team. Has his play been poor even for those minor-pro teams? Maybe I should be waiting for Ozzie's call....

Wow, The Ravens are killing this draft. I love the 3 picks so far. I read on the Ravens site that his college tape does matches his Senior Bowl tape. They said he killed all the 1 on 1 drills but when it came to 11 on 11 he gets lost in traffic.

Another potential steal. D-line looking fierce.

Per WalterFootball:
Why the Slide?: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
Sources with teams said that Davis fell in the 2015 NFL Draft because of his poor attitude and work ethic. Davis demonstrated poor work ethic and practice habits at Iowa and was open to teams about that. He said he didn't try hard in practice because he was concerned that enthusiastic scout-team blockers would get him injured as they tried hard to move up the depth chart. He also told teams that he would need to sit out about half the plays per game in order for him to be effective in his other snaps. Teams told Davis that he needed to do a complete 180 with his interviews before the Combine and pre-draft visits, but the damage was already done. His game tape and production reflected his approach of taking himself out of games and not playing 100 percent all of the time.

they said similar things about Haloti. Although I dont think he took himself out of games vs took plays off. I have a bigger issue with him thinking his teammates were out to get him. Thats fundamentally not understanding a "team" concept.
could be a sign of issues to come or could be all in the past.-JAB

Could have been him concerned about being healthy for the draft.

But that's not what he said. A "scout-team blocker... trying to move up the depth chart" would be trying to impress the coaches via Look, I can block the big guy! & if they got too enthusiastic might do something hazardous like taking a shot at his knees.
Along those lines, consider the alternate universe in which a rookie NT isn't quite so enthusiastic in tackling a star RB in training camp...

Re: Ravens 3rd round pick (90th OV) Carl Davis, DT, Iowa
He thought a scout team OL was going to injure him by taking a shot at his knees. I dont read that any other way than a guy that doesnt trust his teammates and feels theyre out to get him. Thats a flawed mentality and makes practicing pretty worthless. He needs to get over that, quickly.
if he has motivation problems he probably wont be around that long. Hes good, but I dont think hes so naturally gifted that he can cruise by and be effective. plus Harbs wont stand for that kind of thing.-JAB
