OT, But I miss our own Brainy Brian Billick. I looked forward to his posts back in the old Sun Spot days too. I miss him and Toonface.

I thoroughly enjoy reading and hearing Billick on the NFL Network. Back when he was head coach, we would jokingly refer to him as the "blithering gasbag".

Back then? Stand outside your local courthouse, and start taking pictures. Let us know how long it takes for the gendarmes to show up. They earn extra points if they tell you to stop because of the Homeland Security or Patriot Acts. Double the bonus if they mention both.

It was still a different type of paranoia back then. Today we have the NSA tracking cell phones & computers and such.

I believe that is part of it. He has money, and he has said he is not interested in taking just any job just to get back into coaching. There were rumors that the Raiders were interested in him once upon a time, and I could absolutely see BB telling them that he was just not interested.

The other part is that coaching trends change. Remember before BB got hired the trendy thing was to hire veteran coaches. Parcells, Belichick, Schottenheimer, -- hell, they even recycled Dick Vermeil. Billick was part of the next wave, where hiring went like: "Who is the best offense (or defense) in the league right now? Hire their coordinator!"

After that, there was a move to young, unproven guys, like Tomlin and our own Harbs. Guys like Billick, Cowher (though he probably didn't want it), and Chuckie were left on the sidelines. And lets face it. The TV gig is way, way, way easier than the HC gig, and for about the same money. They have few responsibilities in the offseason, and during the season, they probably work about 1/4 of the hours they were working as a HC.

He/she posted on Sunspot when a lot of us were all over there before we moved here.
Changed their avatar daily, sometimes more, all cartoon characters, any and all.
Only responded with one word usually, funny as hell to me anyway as puns or play on words.
Way creative and out of the box.
Most people IIRC hated the poster and tried to have them banned.

Alright folks - let's keep it on topic here.

Enough with the political/paranoia/patriot act commentary please. :ot

Absolutely! As a head coach all the decisions you made each week and in the offseason get questioned. On TV/Radio even if you were wrong with what you said going into the week, by Tuesday no one cares if they even remember.
